"The Cage", the show's original pilot, was shot in 1964 but not shown on TV until segments of it were used in episode 16 of the series, the 2-hour event "The Menagerie". "Where no man has gone before" and "The Corbomite Manuever", which were the 2nd and 3rd TOS episodes, the first two to feature Kirk as Captain, didn't premier until 1966. The show ran for 80 1-hour episodes through 1969.

Actually, 1966-1969, that is of course, not even couting "The Cage". The time span of the series, is 2265-2269.
