PostFri Aug 26, 2005 7:36 pm    Dog Fed Rat Poison and Pin Needles.

Quote:
A Henderson man says someone not only poisoned his dog but also fed the dog sewing needles. He was forced to put his four-legged companion to sleep to save him from excruciating pain.

That dog, named Lucky, used to roam through the yard, but one neighbor didn't like Lucky's barking. That person even sent threatening letters to the house, which was enough to force the owner to put their house up for sale.

Shane Forrest, whose dog was poisoned, said, "They were trying to kill him. There was no doubt in my mind." Shane's dog Lucky was a healthy, strong and playful 2-year-old Labrador retriever.

"We found the vomit in this area and the needles right there," Forrest showed Eyewitness News.

A veterinarian's report shows someone poisoned the dog in a disturbing way. "Somebody probably took rat bait, some needles, put it in a meatball, or something, shoved it over the wall and let him take it." Forrest says he found Lucky's feces with more than 15 needles in it.

Forrest says doctors told him the needles enabled the poison to get right into his dog's blood stream. "He was wobbling. His body was sunken in. His eyes were watering profusely," Forrest said.

So who would do this? Forrest has an idea. He has been getting letters from an unnamed neighbor complaining about Lucky's barking. "And that had been going on from the second week I moved here until 10 days ago."

Fed up, he put his house up for sale. Still someone wanted Lucky hurt, or dead. Forrest said, "I'm hoping they catch who did this and punish him so he can't do it again."

Late in the day, there was a turn for the worse. Cece, another family dog, was brought to the veterinarian also showing signs of being poisoned. It is not clear if Cece will die.

Anyone with information about these incidents should call CrimeStoppers at 385-5555.

Whoever is responsible for this poisoning could face a stiff penalty. It is a crime to poison the animal of another person.

The law says a person who exposes a poisonous substance to an animal with the intent that it should be taken by the animal is guilty of a felony. That person could face 1 to 4 years behind bars and up to a $10,000 fine.

Whoa... I'd totally freak out. Someone poisoned my grandparents dog because they thought it was barking all night. Turned out to be the neighbors dog, but by then Kyana was already dead. Some people are such bastards.

Sick. Whoever did this should spend more than 4 years in jail.
