Fri May 26, 2006 5:58 pm Weird word of the... moment |
|
The word of the moment is grocery/groceries.
You go to a grocery store to get groceries. The plural of grocery one would assume is groceries, but that's just a technicality. You never buy a "grocery", only "groceries". I get where the word comes from, grocer, but if you think about the way we use the word, it's just... weird,
Had to share.

Odd word: Cellular.
How many people do you know that actually call thier cell phones, Cellular phones? Seriously... what's the point?
Odd PHRASE: McDonald's HEALTHY CHOICES MENU
How many of your out there go to McDonald's to get AWAY from all these places offering health menus? I don't know about you, but in a world becomming increasingly obsessed with health food((Health food restaurants now out-number Gas Stations in the Greater Vancouver area)), when your addicted to Junk Food, and you find you are one of those 1 in 1000000 people who functions better on Chemicals, Sugar, Chocolate, and Caffiene, then the health table they taught you in school, why on EARTH would you want to go to a place with a healthy choices menu? I really don't understand why MCDONALD'S OF ALL PLACES would have one. I remember back in the day when people who wanted to eat healthy just avoided fast-food joints. Now they are taking over

I'm guessing common sense would have it mean to re-freeze something you've already thawed out. Whaaaatever.

Too bad common sense has nothing to do with it.

"Thaw" and "unthaw" seem to mean the same thing, as do "flammable" and "inflammable,"

Flammable means "will burn". Inflammable means "won't burn". Inflamed, however...

That's silly. You buy a rug, it says "made of inflammable materials, completely fire retardent". We'd better get them to fix that,
(This is on a hearth rug, btw)
