Its a conspiracy against our wholesome sterotypes!

That's the whole point other than Tuvok the rest are pretty much extras. So Tuvok is like the token black guy on trek

Well, Tuvok was supposed to have that "outcast" feel.
#1. He was Vulcan
#2. He was one of the only black Vulcan's
And I saw african american people on voyager as well.

That wasn't the intention whatsoever. No show would make a point of refrence to his heritage.
I love it when people come up with there wacked out theories.

dude, I saw it or read it somewhere. He was an outcast becuase he was a black vulcan. I think it was on the extras of a dvd on one of the seasons of voyager.
I think you misunderstood me. I didn't mean the show would make a point to his refrence his heritage like that.
*This doesn't have to turn into a race debate or anything because that's kinda lame. *

He wasn't an outcast because he was a black vulcan. That flies in the face of everything we know about Vulcan culture. No way.

Prejudice is illogical. The *beep* portrayal of Vulcans in modern Trek notwithstanding, I seriously doubt that Vulcans are going to cast out one of their own because of skin color.
Who said this on the DVD? Was it Russ?

There were recurring black actors who were crew members - two of them were in Engineering and there was a Security guy named Andrews.

If Russ himself talked about being an "outcast" as in describing his character, then that's how he "developed" his character. That's how he took over the role of the character. It's all up to the actor as to what the character is to be. Now as far as his role on voyager being the only black person...I dunno. I highly doubt it was intentional.
But then again, wasn't Uhura on the Original series the only black MAIN character?

Its true it happens in all series. Same thing with the Asian and one "Special" Person.
The special person being Seven of Nine in VOY, Data in TNG, that changeling in DS9, T'pol in ENT. Don't know about TOS though, might be becasue they hadn't thought of that yet in that time.
