Barbara Bel Geddes is reported to have died on Monday, but her death was only announced several hours ago. Here's a link from BBC News:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4140322.stm

One could talk about her career all day, but I'd like to briefly touch upon her tenure in Dallas, where she played Miss Ellie Ewing, the lady who brought a bit of stability to the Ewing's.

People remember Larry Hagman's portrayal of J.R. Ewing, or Patrick Duffy's portrayal of Bobby Ewing, or Victoria Principal's portrayal of Pam Ewing. And rightly so. However, let's not forget Barbara Bel Geddes portrayal of Miss Ellie, the foundation of Dallas for many years. Her contribution to the show cannot be understated.

God rest her soul.

I don't really like soap operas, so I never really liked Dallas. But Vertigo was a great movie.
