I want replies from Data fans.
One of the reasons why I like Data is cuz he is a cat loving andriod. I love cats myself, I though Spot was so cute! In the last TNG episode All Good Things where they show Data with a housefull of cats, I just thought that was just so cute!

Data kicks all butt. He is one of the greatest characters of Star Trek. Spot is cute yes, but mysterious. Data refers to it as 'he', then 'he' has kittens. Mabye Data had more than one cat?...

Data had a cat. So what? At those times, the emotional chip still had to be implanted, therefore Data was unable to actually love (a cat and/or a human being, you pick). Maybe Data had decided to keep a cat just to try to have something more in common with the humans, with creatures able to have feelings, anyway. But, devoid of real feelings as he was, I strongly doubt that he "liked" or "loved" cats.

I like the Data character. He is such an interesting exploration of human nature and what it really means to be human. Not to mention that I find Data to be funny at many times...and I like comedy, well good comedy

he is interesting in thought that he wanted to be human. Why not klingon or vulcan??? his fasination with cats seems almost child like. i personally liked his character for one reason, his character was not perfect - he made bad decesions and often did as he pleased

Data was a good character and he was humerous at times. He was a hero in nemesis.

Great character. It's a shame he gained such a forced death in Nemesis.

Data was the freaking man. Or at least he wanted to be the freaking man. He was the freaking android. Best character on TNG in my opinion.

Best regular character on TNG, without doubt.

I still think Q was the best character and I thought Admiral Necheyev was good balance from the straight laced easy going group of the crew, whenever she came aboard.

While Data was "the man", I do think that Piacard's interaction with him enhanced his popularity just as Spock's was enhanced by Kirk's human traits.

I'd argue that point... Data didn't want to keep the cat to have something more in common with humans. With Data, it was always an experiment in humanity, so I think it was more to understand humans, then to have something more in common with them. And in addition... I'd argue wether or not Data actually COULD love spot or not. B4, for example, was not a developped personality, and in Nemesis, was seen not entirely grasping the concept of 'human' interaction with the animal, but we've seen it many times before in TNG episodes.

Data has always been my favorite character, not sure if I can pinpoint why?

Possible because he is the perfect man...
He is always trying to improve himself, He is attentive and willing to clean your quarters well you sit on the couch. (I loved that episode lol)

I liked Data, except in Generations where if someone had panel beaten his face in I would have felt much happier.

I nearly cheered when in First Contact Picard suggested Data turn off his chip.
