DISCLAIMER: Star Trek: Phoenix is NOT a canon Star Trek RPG. The plot of Phoenix is canon until the outbreak of the Dominion War. In Phoenix, the DOMINION won the Dominion War NOT the Federation.

The Dominon War

(2373 - 2377)

TIMELINE

2373 - The Second Battle of Deep Space Nine

The Second Battle of Deep Space 9 was the opening battle of the Dominion War, in which the combined forces of the Dominion and the Cardassian Union, led by Gul Dukat, launched an assault on the Federation-held starbase Deep Space 9. Although the station was captured by the Dominion, the battle was a strategic victory for the Federation because the Federation successfully mined the Bajoran wormhole, preventing the Dominion from sending reinforcements to join the battle from the Gamma Quadrant.

2373 - The Battle of Torros III

At the outbreak of the Dominion War in 2373, a task force comprised of Starfleet and Klingon forces attacked and destroyed the Torros III shipyards, while Dominion forces were focused on attacking Deep Space 9. In choosing to launch the attack on the Torros III shipyards, the Federation chose not to send reinforcements to Deep Space 9, which was lost to the Dominion.

2374 - Operation Return

Operation Return was the combined Starfleet and Klingon assault against Dominion and Cardassian forces in the Bajor sector, launched in mid-2374. The objective of the mission was the recapture of starbase Deep Space 9, which had been captured in the opening battle of the war approximately five months previously. It is considered one of the most pivotal battles of the Dominion War.

2374 - The Battle of Betazed

The Battle of Betazed was a surprise Dominion offensive against the Federation member world of Betazed during the Dominion War in 2374. Ultimately, the Dominion conquered the planet and its outlying colonies in only ten hours a humiliating defeat for the Federation.

2374 - Romulan-Dominion Alliance

Captain Benjamin Sisko, Commander of the Federation-held space station Deep Space 9, and Cardassian tailor and ex-member of the Obsidian Order, the former Cardassian intelligence agency, Elim Garak, attempt to bring the Romulans into the Dominion War, on the Federation-Klingon side, by devising an elaborate hoax to lull the Romulans, specifically the Romulan senator, Senator Vreenak, the Romulans biggest Dominion supporter, into believing that the Dominion planned an attack on the Romulan Star Empire. When the plot failed, with Vreenak uncovering the duo's plot, Garak attempted to assassinate Senator Vreenak, by placing a bomb on his shuttle. However, the assassination attempt failed and Senator Vreenak informed the Romulan Senate of the plan to bring the Romulans into the war, driving the Romulans to form an alliance with the Dominion, bringing the Romulans into the Dominion War on the Dominion's side. These series of events will end up being the most pivotal moment in the Dominion War and the turning point of the war, in the Dominion's favor.

2374 - The Third Battle of Deep Space Nine

With the Romulan's help, the Dominion regroups and attacks the Federation-held space station, Deep Space 9 for the second time. This time, the poorly defended station falls to the Dominion-Romulan offensive and the Dominion re-captures the station, indefinitely. The U.S.S. Defiant is destroyed in the battle, however, several escape pods manage to escape the battle, including one holding Captain Benjamin Sisko. Afterwards, now that the Bajoran nonaggression pact has been disolved, due to the urgings of the Cardassians, the Dominion invades Bajor, beginning the Second Occupation of Bajor. Several attempts are made by the Federation to take back DS9 and Bajor, however, each are unsuccesful, now that the mines blocking off the Bajoran wormhole had been removed, allowing Dominion reinforcements from the Gamma Quadrant to head to the Alpha Quadrant. The Federation is doomed.

2375 - 2377 Terminus of Vicis

Beginning in 2375, the three-year conquest of the Alpha Quadrant, by the Dominion, known by humans as "Terminus of Vicis", Latin for "The End of Times", begins. At first, the Dominion is opposed by the Federation. However, before long, the Federation fell to the Dominion, with the Klingons following suit, soon afterwards. By 2377, both the Federation and the Klingons had been defeated. The Dominion had won the Dominion War.

More information on the Dominion War can be found here. NOTE - Disregard all information after the events of the Battle of Betazed. In Phoenix, those canon events did not occur. Instead, the plot to bring the Romulans into the Dominion War, on the Federation side, failed.
