Played it,loved it in a love/hate sort of way,as in hate the way it scares the hell out of you

Never play it with the lights off btw

I`d recommend it to anyone who likes FPS and/or horror games, its a different kind of horror to the japanese type of console horror (ie resi evil etc),its more...occult,and it keeps on trying to mess with your mind.

Clive barker `s input was great on this,i loved the family diary you got with the game.

Example of what the game does : the infamous mirror scene

Having spoken to Jeremiah covenant, your friend, the first levels start, except, the electricity is out in the mansion, its raining, and lightning is crashing out there. So you walk down a corridor,at wich,at the far end,is a mirror. As you walk past it,you look into it,of course,to see how your character looks...and out of thin air behind you,as you can see in the mirror,Aaron (one of the siblings) appears ,laughing in his usual mocking way.You spin around ,gun ready..except...theres nothing there. This is of course shortly before you hear the distant sound of breaking glass,a scream, and the first howlers start showing up.

Another example, the catacombs : your walking through the dark, stumbling over some bones, and in the distance you hear Lizbeth singing a twisted nursery rhyme

Weaponry is interesting too, especially the use of magic, like Scrye wich lets you see back into the past, and stuff like the tibetan war cannon (sort of a sentient weapon...imagine having a gun that snorts and growls and licks its lips)...

Argh.Must play something cheerfull now, just posting about the game has made me all tense and looking over my shoulder

Yeah, those actually help making the game a little less scary in that you dont have to have the added worry about dying

You should try the Thief series if you havent already, they`ve also got a little of that tense horror element thats not so in your face like resident evil ,on certain levels

But yeah, this game seems to go all out to scar you, like the details of what the enemies do to you if you die, they have like special gory cutscenes just for that, for each of the enemies should they own you.Argh!
