Now now, before you go "How can there be a trilogy of terminator 2?" These books are set after the events in terminator 2. They were done before T3 went into production (though the books came out about the time T3 did come out). They are hard to read in some places, but over all, good reading. S.M. Stirling did good in writing these books. As far as I know, theres only 3 of them. One interesting thing about these books, unlike the other terminator stories, they dont take place in days or hours. nope. Monthes to years. in each book :O. You will find in reading them, that all of a sudden its like 2 years later than the previous chapter was. Now for the reviews.... (I cant rember all the time settings, so im gonna just guessimate ) In starting to read them again, I see that the first book is about (starting) 6 years after T2.

T2: Infiltrator:
This book takes place approximately when terminator 3 did time wise. The Prologue takes place a few minutes after the end of Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The first chapter then starts out the story which is alternated between the future (during the war) and the storeis present. (erm, circa 2000, hes like (John connor) 16 or somthing im not sure) What this book is about, is and "Infiltrator" is sent back, whos mission, is not to kill John Connor, but to ensure Skynet comes into exsistance. This dont stop her from trying to kill John though. he actually makes several T-800's to mainly guard her, but also ensure Connor dies. This book mainly tells about the early development of skynet, IE, the programming, designing etc... Also in this book, the human model for the T-800 is introduced, and quickly becomes an ally againts the machines as he is introduced to the horrors yet to come. Interesting note: The infiltrator is actually humanish, with machine parts installed. In other words, she needs to eat etc...

T2: Rising Storm
This book, takes place after the events of Infiltrator In which the orgianal infiltators clone (the orgional is dead) continues the mission the previous one did. To ensure the survival of Skynet. Liker her predicesor, the clone is quite human, with machine parts. What this story tells is the Connors continueing struggle againts Skynet (geeze, notice how the creators of skynet seem determined to make it happen?) as they fight againts Law enforcement and the bad guys (The machines, the People that make skynet, this weird "technology is evil" guy [yes interestingly enough, hes againts the Connors to]) This book also tells about the Physical creation of Skynet (Like biulding the machine its in, the programing writeing and installing, what ever you want to call it) This book really, shows like said in the movie Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines "Judgement Day is Inevitable". Long story short, this is where Skynet becomes self aware. It dont take control yet though

T2: The Future War
If you couldn't tell from the title, this book takes place during the war, but not all of it. The begining is some time before the machines take over. I belive its a few weeks after the events in Rising Storm. It shows skynets slow take over as it takes over things like SUV's (these acted as hunters and scouts untill real ones could be made lol) and other various machines and computers. Its actually some ways into the book, before Skynet begins its attacks. theres a chapter or two on their time in a bomb shelter as they comunicate with other survivors and prepare to fight the machines. The world wasn't hit as bad though, as there are not in as many Nukes as there were in 1994. It shows a great deal on the resoruce gathering of Skynet as it used human slaves and volentiers (Who were led to belive they would be taken care of if they helped Skynet) to the point where actually outright fighting with the machines started. to the end of the war.

This, like I said can be hard reading (some parts in all 3 books, outright boring), but is over all, good reading, gives a pluasible look on what could have happend if Terminator 3 either didnt happen (I mean the movie) or was based on the books. In sort: If your a fan of the terminator stories and films, get theses books

Didn't Aaron Allston write some of the Terminator books? I've never read any of the Terminator ones but I really like the Star Wars ones he's done - love the sense f humour in them.
