Quote:
Virgin Galactic's first suborbital spacecraft is designed for tourists to travel where only a select few have gone; christened the VSS Enterprise, in homage to Gene Roddenberry's famous USS Enterprise. Virgin Galactic's second spacecraft, the VSS Voyager also takes its name from the Star Trek series.

Richard Branson, one of the founders of the Virgin Group, has had a desire to offer spaceflight to the paying public and has suggested that the initial ticket price for a suborbital trip will run the "space tourist" around $210,000.00 in U.S. dollars. That price would include one suborbital space flight and a week of flight training. As of April 2005, 100 people have signed on and put their deposits down for a reserved seat aboard the vessel. One of those pre-paid customers to be the first to sign on is William Shatner, Captain James T. Kirk, himself.

According to Branson and partner spacecraft designer Burt Rutan the desire of Virgin Galactic is to reinvest profits from early tourism flights back into the program in order to make space tourism more affordable.

The VSS Enterprises' "virgin" tourism flight is scheduled for sometime in 2008 and passengers will include Branson and some family members.

Branson's vision for space travel tourism doesn't stop at the suborbital level. His real goal is to develop orbital space tourism, including a "space hotel."

Space, the final frontier, is about to get a little crowded.

I told my mom and my sister and both of them have already banned me from such acts... But when I get out of college and start to save for retirement and children's college funds... I may just open a secret account..

I wanna go... but I'd have to win the lottery first

I likes Richard Branson though, and his Virgin trains may not run on time but they are very comfortable

I can't wait for affordable space travel.

I also can't wait for the invention of the warp nacelles and warp drive.

I'm guessing here, but businessmen don't take unnecessary risks, so: I guess they will look very much like Space Ship One, maybe bigger (more safety equpipment, which means more fuel), and will almost certainly have a "feather" like SS1.
