LUCASARTS JOINS THE CELEBRATION WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT II

FOLLOW-UP TO BEST-SELLING STAR WARS GAME EVER WILL ADD SPACE, PLAYABLE JEDI AND CONTENT FROM Star Wars: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH FILM

Indianapolis, Ind. April 21, 2005 Amid tens of thousands of Star Wars fans gathered at the Indiana Convention Center for the four-day Star Wars party of a lifetime, LucasArts revealed Star Wars Battlefront II at Star Wars Celebration III. Set for a Fall 2005 release on the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game system from Microsoft and Windows platforms, Star Wars Battlefront II takes the best-selling Star Wars video game of all time one Imperial-walker step forward with all-new space combat, playable Jedi, and never-before-seen environments straight out of the Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith film. Fans of the original Star Wars Battlefront will also enjoy an all-new single-player experience that takes players through an epic, story-based saga where every action the player takes impacts the Battlefront and, ultimately, the fate of the Star Wars galaxy. Critically acclaimed Pandemic Studios is once again developing the game for LucasArts.

The original was a huge success for LucasArts and we plan to build on that success to make Star Wars Battlefront II exceed what we did for the first game in every measurable way, said John Geoghegan, Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales. For Star Wars Battlefront, we joined forces with our colleagues at Lucasfilm to launch the game day-and-date with the Classic trilogy on DVD. Star Wars Battlefront IIs campaign will be even bigger, including promotions with major national partners, as well as unprecedented in-store support.

Star Wars Battlefront II improves upon the original games single-player experience with open-ended, mission-based objectives inspired from all six Star Wars films. The compelling storyline spans more than 12 new locations, many from Episode III, including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic movie moments complete the Star Wars Battlefront II experience, as players battle within the interior of the Death Star and visit Princess Leias blockade runner, the Tantive IV, as seen at the beginning of Episode IV A New Hope. In addition, at certain key moments within the battles, players can feel the Force as a Jedi.

For the first time ever, Star Wars Battlefront II players can engage in space combat and, during the same battle, board enemy ships to attack from within. Starting on foot inside a capital ship, players can enter the spacecraft of their choice and travel into space to dogfight with the rival faction. From there, they can dock within the enemys capital ship, overtake the ships command posts, man its turrets to disable its shields and destroy it from within! Or, they can simply stay inside their own capital ship and defend it from attacks and enemy fire. The choice is theirs.

The stellar online play that marked the original Star Wars Battlefront returns even bigger and better for Star Wars Battlefront II. Players can locate their buddies and track their stats as they battle alongside more players than ever (up to 24 on PS2, 32 on Xbox, 64 on Windows).

It does look shiny doesn't it. The 'space combat' element looks esspecially good - it looks alot more than I was expecting, the way the ships are able to dogfight, etc.

I don't buy many games anymore but this looks like it may have to be bought lol.

No. The first one lacked any story or real motivation in each level. There was like no real point. They claimed we would be to "re live" famous battles. But they didn't even make them that epic. It was so mediocre.

Ok, I trust game, I buy alot of my games from game, But remember what happened to good games such as Juiced and Delta Force Black hawk down and even HALO 2. They all got delayed for one reason or another, so dont book the day off when the game is due to release, I made that mistake with halo 2.....Do'h

I so hope it's better than the first. I only had it downloaded for a couple days. Galactic Conquest SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED! I honestly thought it would be cool because I thought I would get to conquer a solar system and spread throughout the galaxy or something... how wrong I was! Just win two fights on each planet and it's yours and what after you have all those planets? Well I can't really remember but it was pretty boring.

They're saying that it will involve more development of characters.

The first one was a bit short in terms of the size of the individual levels and the actual number of levels themselves. Similarly, there was no real storyline to the game - each level was reliant on the relative film to set the scene...

I just watched the trailer
OMG
I am not a praying man but
*Gets on his knee and into a praying position and prays*

I am looking forward to the Jedi feature of the game and but in the Trailer a ship takes off and it looks like a TIE interceptor (I can't wait to fly that beast).
But was it a TIE Interceptor definatly ????

I think I remember seeing the TIE Interceptor as well. Presumably it will be like the first one where any vehicle you see will be flyable...

I think the Tantive IV level will be good , a Corvette against an ISD

Going back to what someone said about the game being delayed, Lucasarts will try and dodge this as they are trying to bring out the game at the same time as the movie which iot is mostly based on!

Just a vote of confidence for you guys
