PostSat Apr 16, 2005 5:51 pm    Doctor Who

Who has been watching the new series of Doctor Who?

I think it's pretty good. Im actually surprised at how good the special effects are on it.

Nah, I'm not surprised at the quality of the special effects.

Only two episodes have aired on the CBC. The second episode was way better than the pilot. From the pilot, I thought that Dr. Who had potential, but was nothing that special. The second episode changed everything, it was awesome.

Dr. Who: Just wait until you see the bill.

I never saw the 2nd episode. Tonight they showed the 4th. It was the 1st in a 2 parter. It was really kool. An alien space ship crashed in the thames in london. Not before destroying Big Bed of course. And it looked excellent when they showed it. It was really good. But half way through the episode it went back to it's cheesyness of the origional Doctor Who

I've watched all of them... you all get to hear some real Welsh accents in the third episode! Yup, they've been pretty good so far. The smashed up Big Ben... had to laugh,

I find lots of little bits of dialogue that make me laugh!

I really am enjoying it very much and I really don't hate Billie Piper (which I fully expected to)

Did anyone else hear about the parents complaining it was too scary?! I thought that was the point, I remember being terrified by the daleks! Idiots

Im glad they've gone for the slightly surreal, British style of things rather than try and compete with the big american sci fi shows

Yeah the 3rd episode was kool. But it was funny cuz we all gathered at my friends house to watch it and just before it started my friend nikki was telling us about how much she hates Zombies and stuff like that. And then that episode came on! she was telling me how she had a nightmare of that woman that night.

I thought it was a kool episode though. and yeah i thought billie piper would really annoy me in it but surpisingly she doesn't

I've watched all 4 episodes so far. I love the actor that plays The Doctor. I'm sad that this will be his only season in that role though.

I like the dialogue in the first episode the best. Is that how people talk over there? Hehe. Another classic line was in episode 4 where he said, "Excuse me, do you mind not farting while I'm saving the world?" hHHAHAA

Compared to the ghost episode in Cardiff, I thought the alien one wasn't very good. It's just made me edgy around fat people who fart a lot.

I think after the first episode, the show has gone down hill. Great lead actor, but the show seems cheap and plotless. I don't blame the main actor for leaving.

Well, this week's episode (the first of the two-parter) was interesting. I prefer the second, and even third, to it, so I agree that the quality is sort of plateauing. But it had good moments. The cliffhanger was very well done, I really empathize with the Doctor's character.

It supposed to look crappy and be really cheesy. Thats done on purpose to try and keep the essence of the old Dr. Who

Basically, a guy whos a type of alien, called a time lord, has picked up Billie Piper (onscreen name Rose Tyler) and is taking her on a wonderful voyage through time and space. In tomorrow's episode, they'll be in an alien museum where the one living exhibit is a Darlik, the doctor's worst enemy (because the darliks killed all his people).

Oh, and now Darliks can climb stairs. Cower behind the sofe mere mortals

Yeah i can't wait to see it tomorrow!

I saw an advert of it today and all it showed was the doctor being like completely gob smacked and then it went to a black screen then two little lights lit up and then started moving slightly and you could just see the top part of a darlik and it started to talk a little bit.

It absolutely scared the shiite out of me!

I missed it because I was having a party, but today I went out to a nerd convention and they had Darliks and I said to my mate "I'm scared" and the evil trashcan cornered me! Later, one of them bumped into a wall and said "That sounded expensieve". They were quite funny!

I thought last nights episode was crap. The story was good but the acting was just too appauling for me to enjoy it.

This "Nerd Convention" Is it in milton keynes? I'm going to that tomorrow

Yep! I went there today but decided not to get any autographs because I'm saving up for LFACC (london film and comic comnvention) because Kate Mulgrew and the guy who plays Chakotay will be there. I've been to Collectormania loads of times. It's always packed, you have to squeeze everywhere. Tell us if you see the darleks! They go around wearing "vote darlek" badges

My chest still hurts from where the Darlek hit it with a plunger. I think I'll file for sexual harassment...

The worst are the people with 4x4 style pushchairs that take up all the space. I got my foot run over by a wheelchair, but the guy was pretty light so it didn't hurt all that much. I saw a really bratty kid dressed as Jango Fett, but he was white with blonde hair and looked really stupid in his costume. And there were lots of little girls dressed as princess Leia and one really hot guy as Anakin.
You have to watch out for the goths. It's all to easy to get caught on a spikey accessory in an inclosed space.
