Mon Mar 14, 2005 6:11 pm Lets make it interesting Voyager vs. Star Destroyer |
|
I know you all hate these but I had to ask which do you think would win Voyager or a Star Destroyer from Star Wars.

Voyager Right off the bat and the ship is smarter and quicker. So my vote is voyager.

How the hell could VOY hope to beat a Star Destroyer?

It's quite hard to say actually.
I mean a Star Destroyers hull is practically made up of laser turrets but we all know that lazers do almost nothing to Federation shields. But Stardestroyes do still have a large amount of Ion Cannons which as we know are also in Star Trek and can't be quite effective.
All in all i would probably have to say a stardestroyer would win.
Voyager definately couldn't out run it and with the sheer size of the stardestroyer and the amount of Ion Cannons it has, Voyager would only be able to evade so many. Eventually the crew would become tired and the ships power reserves would run low effecting the ship making it an easyer target.
So i would unfortunately have to say Star Destroyer would win

come on a Star Destoryer is HUGE, its has plenty of weapons, even though they may not be as effective, but as Chakotay1988 said "But Stardestroyes do still have a large amount of Ion Cannons which as we know are also in Star Trek and can't be quite effective." they may not be effective but they do have alot of them. so they will keep chipping away at voyagers shields. and also they have voyager outgunned and out manned. Plus those tie fighters can be of some use in a way

One of the biggest reasons why voyager wouldn't win (IMO) is because Voyager has a top speed of warp 9.975 now with that kind of speed Voyager can outrun almost every ship in the alpha quadrant.
But as all of that SW fans know that in starwars they don't use warp drive, they use hyper drive which can get a ship from one side of the Galaxy to another in like 48 hours.
So the good old scenario, retreat until out shields are repaired wouldn't be an option.

I'm sorry i take it all back. Voyager would win. Tonight i went over to to one of my friends house (Out of everyone i know, he knows the most about Star Wars) and asked him this question and straigh away he said that voyager would win hands down. I even tryed to argue with him that a starbestroyer would win be nope he stuck with voyager and when it come to starwars i trust almost everything he says.
So im sorry but i have changed my mind. I think that Voyager would win.

Um...sorry but that ain't good enough for me. No offense, but he obviosuly doesn't know enough about SW. How is it possible for it to win? The ship is like 10 times as big as VOY. It has hundreds of turrets(Yes, the fire lasers, but the lasers in SW are different from ST). TIE Squadrons. Ion Cannons. Gravity wells. VOY has good stuff too, but waht does it have to win?

I shall meraly post this link
http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Essays/FiveMinutes.html
Now that would put enterprise at an average of 571429875.51428571428571428571429 and the acclamator troop transport at an average of 38571486093357.1428571428571428571...
Or roughly 571 million and 38 trillion
So unless the voyager is 6654.9912434325744308231173380035 or 7 thousand times as powerful as the enterprise, it would not be able to defeat a troop transport much less a star destroyer.

I think Voyager would win, now I know you all are sayin of course i say that but whilst Voyager may be taking a beating Tuvok would be figuring out the best place to shove a torpedo and detonate it, and with a few strategically placed torps i think the Star Destroyer would crumble under voyager.

i wouldn't really trust that link
i dont think that he was competely explaining each sides disadvantages abd advatanges.it seems like he was disporveing all the star trek things when he didn't spend the time to explain how the star wars things could be disproved
note:i am not saying i hate star wars, just the author of the site

A StarDestroyer only has shields around it's bridge section. Voyager would be able to fire a load of torpedoes at a certain point and would severly damage it. Plus Voyager had the most sophisticated sensors in the federation so im sure they will be able to tell where it's sheld generators are and be able to take them out.
Yes the Ion cannons would be quite effective against voyager but just think of how small voyager is compared to a stardestroyer. and a stardestroyers ion cannons are big and slow so should be able to manouve out of the way intime...possibly by using the "Picard Manouver"

ahh yes the picard maneuver regular trek fans wouldnt have thought about this but you have a good point. Stay out far then bam warp in and strike, brilliant they could be in and out before the SD knew what hit it, and after Voyager took out the minimal shields all they would have to do is take out the bridge and it would be over, as for that link while it was informative it seemed kind of bias towards star wars, although i love both i dont think the odds would be in that much favor to them. Also Voyager could launch the flyer which would be double team, so with that i hold my vote of Voyager

I think that an Stardestroyer can defeat Voyager. Voyager is to weak to defeat a giant ship. Okay, Voyager gives him much damagebut that`s all. Maybe if the Jedi would help then..... Never mind....

I bet a Star Destroyer would win. It's cannons fire so fast and there are just so many, Voyager would be ripped apart. No offense to Voyager of course.

Yep true they could.
Voyager could scann the ship and find out some of it's more important areas then dropout of warp fire phasers whilst beaming in a few torpedoes to the unshielded area and then fly along the stardestroyers hull as close to it as possible firing phasers like mad (Like in Unimatrix Zero) until they come to the shield generators. There they fires a spread of torpedoes at one generator and phasers then as voyager flys past it fires it's aft phasers and torpedoes at the second generator. Then they come around for another pass firing two of it's forward phasers at the same place doing twice the damage then firing another pread of torpedoes at the bridge section with it's shields now down and then as voyager is flying towards the front of the ship it ejects an anti-matter pod at the bottom of the bridge section and detonates it with a torpedoes and then fire phasers all along the parts of hull it's flying by at full impulse (Once again like in Unamatrix Zero) then as it gets away from the stardestroyer it fires three torpedoes from it's aft launchers as it jumps to maximum warp.
(Of course voyagers shields are pretty much offline at this time due to heavy fire from the stardestroyer)

Also because i forgot about the tie fighters.
Whilst at warp en route to the stardestroyer just before the battle. Voyager equips all of it's shuttles with the Delta Flyers Refractive shielding. The as voyager drops out of warp the shuttles activate the refractive shielding and then launch its 2 Type 9 shuttles, 1 Type 8 and the delta flyer to help pick off the tie fighters that are on voyagers tail. So as voyager is taking on the stardestroyer and tie fighters are chasing after it, voyagers shuttles which can't be seen or picked up on sensors are behind the tie fighters picking them off by firing there phasers and the delta flyer firing it's borg enhanced weapons. This will leave the tie fighters confused not knowing whats destroying them.

I think Voyager would win but only if it had a tricobalt device or something. i don't think phasers would do anything. Photon torpedoes might.
