Thu Jul 29, 2004 5:14 am Foreshadowing Jadzia's Death |
|
Jadzia dies in the last episode of seaons 6, "Tears of the Prophets." The episode before that, "The Sound of Her Voice" foreshadows Jadzia's death. I never realized it until I watched it the second time around on DVD.
In "The Sound of Her Voice," Miles says at her memorial:
I want my friends in my life because someday we're going to wake up and we're going to find that someone is missing from this circle (camera pans to Jadzia) and on that day, we're going to mourn and we shouldn't have to mourn alone.
Pretty sad episode... but no would know it until after watching the season 6 finale.

A very interesting point. This will send me back to my archives, to watch both episodes again.
Glad youve started to watch more DS9 though!

Started? I watched DS9 from the begining. Only recently have I started watching them again, since the DVDs are available to me now.

Very interesting indeed. I hadn't noticed it.
I'm sure that at the time "The Sound of Her Voice" was shot, the writers and Terry Farrell herself knew that Jadzia would be killed off in the next episode. So maybe the writers wanted to focus on that like a inside joke. Although I wouldn't call Jadzia dying a joke... She was one of my favorite characters.

I enjoyed Jadzias character alot too. She had an interesting spin on things in general. But yes, I really, really miss my DS9 collection. It makes me infinitely sad that I do not have them...

Perhaps it was foreshadowing. Nice find.

Yeah, I really liked Dax. I liked watching her and Worf together. It was too bad that she left the show, but I'm glad that they didn't totally replace the character with another actress. Having the different host was interesting but it kind of wasn't the same with Ezri.
