Star Trek: The Final Stand

The USS Enterprise D sailed into the atmosphere of Veridian 3. Riker watched as Deanna struggled to keep the ship level. Impact was iminent. Riker braced himself, but no amount of restraint would keep him from flying from his chair. The hull hit the planet of Veridian 3, and Riker and the rest of the bridge crew was thrown forward. Just as Riker was about to hit the bulkhead, he started awake. He looked around confused. He controlled his breathing as he regained his composure. He was on the Titan, Deanna was asleep next to him. He stood up, and silently walked over to the computer. He hit a few buttons, and his service record came up. Previous assignment, First Officer, USS Enterprise D. Current assignment, Captain, USS Titan. He sat down in the chair next to the computer. For some reason, he had had this nightmare over the past few nights. He walked back over to the bed, and lay down. Within a few minutes, he was asleep again.

A few hours later, on a different ship, Jean-Luc Picard woke up. He got up, showered, and dressed. he set a table in his quarters with plates, then replicated some scrambled eggs, biscuits, and some tea. He set these down on the table, and a few minutes later, the door chimed. Picard had put this breakfast together to eat with Beverly, as he had for what seemed like ages. He escorted Crusher in, then they both sat down. As Picard was about to start eating, a message came in from the bridge. His new first officer, a man named Chakotay from the infamous USS Voyager, was on the other end of the line. "I'm sorry to disturb you Captain, but there is a priority one message from Starfleet Command for you." he said. Picard sighed. "I'll take it down here." he replied. He looked over at Crusher, and just before he was going to speak, she stood up. "I know, I'm leaving." she said. After she left, Picard walked over to his computer terminal. Admiral Janeway appeared. "Admiral, what a pleasant surprise." he said. "Jean-Luc," she said warmly, "I wish we could talk over better circumstances." she said. Picard frowned. Janeway continued. "We have received word from the Klingons that the Romulan Empire is under attack." she said. "I don't see how this affects me, Admiral." Picard replied. "Jean-Luc, it's the Borg." Janeway replied.
