Here's the deal: I know this girl, and about six months ago (Sunday will mark the 6 month anniversary) her boyfriend died in a drunk driving accident. She loved him very much, and still talks about him, still cares deeply about him. My question is, what kinds of things can I do to help her out? I've already told her that she can call me whenever she wants, but I feel I can, I should do more. But I just can't think of what. I want to be active in helping her out, instead of merely waiting for her to call. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think you should call her. Often, when someone's feeling down about something, especially for that period of time, they wan't to talk to people, but their either to shy, or just to scared to initiate the conversation.
I wouldn't start right in talking about her boyfriend, but I would just try to get a good conversation going, and you must listen well, but also provide a good amount of feedback, and make it a two way conversation. That will let her know that you worry about her, and will make her feel a whole lot better.
I can't say I've had the same situation as her, but I have been extremely depressed before, and I know that is what would've made me feel better. I did actually get over it on my own eventually, but it took way too long.

Yeah me agree with memyselfandI, you should call her... just talk to her. Don't let her push you away. I don't think there's much more you can do really. And if she really wants to talk about what happend... just... be there for her... and listen to her
