Which of the TOS films do you think Spock was "most human" in? Or did you not think he was in any of them.

There are scenes such as Spock crying in The Motion Picture but I believe Spock is "most human" in The Undiscovered Country. I found him to act less like a Vulcan and more like a human as he attempted to buy time to rescue Kirk and McCoy. The way he interacted with the crew to find the traitor was also interesting, he really exhibited his human side then.

Any thoughts, folks?

Hmm... Spock was very human for the most part in the movies (aside from #3 since he was barely in it, and #5 since they were trying to act like a 3rd-rate comedy act, and not like themselves.)

TMP: Spock chuckled upon his realization that V'Ger was not a being who found pure logic, and could provide him with all his answers, but was instead an intelligent, living machine, with the benefits and drawbacks. Later he cried, when he felt he found what he was looking for, but V'Ger had not. In a sense, he felt connected to V'Ger in a brotherly sense.

TWOK: Spock died to save his crew. Tell me how he wasn't being human.

TVH: Spock started in the movie as a Vulcan, but rather than suppressing his emotions, he didn't even understand what they were about. His human half was pretty much dead and they spent the movie bringing it back to life. It showed well in the end.

Sarek: Do you have a message for your mother?
Spock: Yes. Tell her... I feel fine.

In the beginning, he couldn't answer this question, so his understand of his human side, as well as his sense of humor returned after all. ^_-

TUC: Peace is logical, according to Vulcan philosophy, and Spock took it upon himself to act on his first ambassadorial role to bridge the gap between the Federation and the Klingon empire. At this point, it was hard to say how Spock was acting, because the audience could clearly see signs of him acting as both Vulcan AND Human.

Spock: Very well. In 24 hours, we'll agree this conversation never took place.
Valeris: A lie?
Spock: An ommission.

And later on.

Scotty: Who fired that---
Spock: Ah, Mr. Scott. Good. I understand you are having difficulty with the Warp Drive. How much time do you require for repair?
Scotty: There's nothing wrong with the bloody th---
Spock: Mr. Scott. If we return to Spacedock, the assassins will surely find a way to dispose of their incriminating footwear, and we will never see the Captain or Dr. McCoy alive again.
Scotty: Could take weeks, Sir.
Spock: Thank you, Mr. Scott. Uhura, please inform starfleet command our Warp Drive is offline.
Valeris: A lie?
Spock: An error.

The balance is that he is behaving like a human without compromising his Vulcan ethics (like not telling a lie, but calling it something else.)

So, if anything, I would prefer to see a poll which says when Spock is "Least human"

I think it was the Wrath of Khan... simply because he died in a heroicly human matter, and managed to stay long enough to say good-bye to his friend.
Although he did seem pretty human in the Final Frontier telling the klingon general(I'm pretty sure I got this quote right): "Damnit General, YOU WILL TRY!".
He was pretty human in the Undiscovered country, as well. Violating about 89523 Starfleet orders just to save his friend.
I still think it was the Wrath of Khan though.

I think he was most human right before he "died", so I'd pick Wrath of Khan. Honorable mention to Undiscovered Country.

I think he was most human, without any alien conjuring like in several TOS episodes, however, in Unification from TNG.

Yeah I agree with "captain_kay" because in that movie in the end he laughed but although I voted for 1. movie. I voted for movie number one because I watched it yesterday so my memory is fresh. In that movie Spock has released a tear and it was sliding down his face.....man it was a scene!!!!

This is a little OT, but we were watching some TOS the other day, and Spock said, "I feel" 2x. Wish I could remember the name of the ep,

I'd have to say that he was the most human in The Wrath of Khan because he sacrificed himself. It almost brought a tear to my eye when I first watched it when I was little.

Probably it was in Star Trek VI that Spock was most human because it was in that movie that he seemed to embrace more human traits, like lying about the ship's status to avoid returning to space dock, understanding the desire not to bring the Enterprise home at the end of the crisis, etc.

I own ST IV: The Voyage Home and have seen it more times than any other Trek movie, with the exception of Nemesis, and I'd have to say that he's most definitely the most human in that production. Not to mention hilarious

I think all the above answers are good. In Voyage Home he didn't appear more human even though he was residing in San Francisco in 1986. He was recuperating at the time which required his Vulcan side. Noticed the Doctor couldn't stand-it in this movie. Every 5 minutes he'd be brazen him about making the 'human decision. Seldom worked anyway.

Spock was too human in all the films. He wasn't too bright either, as Nimoy acknowledged when he said Spock didn't quite have all his marbles for quite awhile after being "reconstituted". Spock was the intellectual core of original Trek... the character was never done justice to, in the films.

As far as STII goes - which is also my fav ST movie - I don't think that Spock was most human just because he died to save his crewmates and his ship. He decided to sacrifice himself because that was the most logical thing to do, because the needs of the many are more important than the needs of the few, or the one. He was aware that he was the only one able to survive long enough in that chamber, and so did what he felt he had to do.
In ST TMP, Spock appeared out of shape, weakened.
His brief appearance in STIII was very well performed, but I don't think that it's sufficient to determine whether he acted in a too human way.
In STIV he tells his father (about his mother): "Tell her I feel fine". This brings us to the dialogue he had with her at the beginning of the movie, and I guess it's reasonable to assume that he asked his father to tell his mother that he was fine just to reassure this latter about his health. Nothing more, nothing too human (as far as Spock was personally concerned).
