It's heee-rrrre. The Verichip, a little device implanted beneath the skin, has arrived. Designed to give out an ID number that will allow people to access medical records, the U.S. Government approved it for medical uses last week.
Is this the beginnings of Big Brother? Or is this a very good thing?

Stupid. Just plain STUPID.
I can't beleive that we've become the world of Anthem, but it's happened.
I don't truth the Government and farther than I can throw it, and I don't want a tracking device in my body.
Am I the only supporter of Small Government left?

No, I agree with you. Although I love a computer, I believe it should be kept separate from my body. I don't want a chip installed in me, and I don't want one installed in my kids (if and when I have any).
I can see how this could be potentially useful, but I think the risks outweigh the benefits. However, in the case of the extremely elderly or infirm if they choose to have such a chip implanted for medical reasons, I will not deny them that choice. But I don't want such a chip to be mandatory for anything.

I think the setbacks and possibilities for error and badness outweighs its uses.

Ok, that is not a good idea! I can see it becoming forced though, and them coming over here into Britian.

Why would you wanna need something like that?? Criminals will eventually find a way to decieve the government, so I don't see the point..

I can see its usefulness as a medical device. If you get knocked unconscious at the bottom of a ravine, the device could notify the nearest hospital to send an ambulance, and once there the paramedics can have full access to your medical files.
But I just don't like the idea of it being mandatory, nor the idea that the government has a fixed tracking device on me anymore.

Yeah, the first thing I agree with you, that would be a relief, and you would save lives with that.
That's exactly what I wanted to say: I also don't like the idea that the government can see where I am at any time. No thanks.
Yeah... fantasies, fantasies!

It's Big Brother in a small scale. I think it's a terrible idea, and it could be optional, but should it become mandatory in the future...Well, let's say they won't stick a *beep* chip in my body.

I think it's a great idea. I think the benefits greatly outweigh the possibilities for exploitation.
Notice that people against the idea also agree that it could save lives.

I think that it is a good idea- not that I would be first in line to get it or anything.
