PostTue Oct 12, 2004 5:13 am    UK Politics- who would you vote for?

Next year, there is likely to be a General Election. So, based on what you know now, who would you vote for? Please could you also post your country, and the reasons why you'd vote for that party.

The main parties are:
New Labour (Old Tory- joke)
Conservative (Tory)
Liberal Democrats (Lib Dems)
Respect
United Kingdom Independance Party (UKIP)
Green
Fathers 4 Justice
The Official Monster Raving Loony Party (Yes, they do exist)
British National Party (BNP)

If you know of any other party, post that too.

I'd vote for Respect. Yup, I'm left wing. I dislike Tony Blair for his constant lying, and not just over the war, but over taxes and Top Up Fees. I dislike that he used Scottish MPs to vote on purely English and Welsh matters. I also disagree with the reasons we went to war.

I'd vote Respect because they want a set date to get the troops out, to get rid of all university fees, and also because they want Palestine to belong to the Palestinians, not to Israel. They are against the illegal war there, and the ghettoing of the residents there. They also want all workers to have a living wage.

BTW, I live in England.

Em, I'm not sure. Generally I agree with the policies of the conservatives but not with the finatial ones. I can't vote at the moment anyway, so it doesn't matter,

It supports him being the president of the USA, so we can get a decent prime minister

You'd still vote for a party George Galloway belonged to, even though he was involved in Saddam's oli-for-food scam?

There's been no prove of that. Also, what one member has done doesn't change what the party is for. Labour and the Tories are too right-wing for me, and the Lib Dems don't have many policies that I agree with. I'm a member of the Socialist Workers Party, which is a part of the Respect coalition, not a member of Respect outright.

I am a U.K resident I have had the right to vote for 35year's. In that time I have voted both conservative and labour. Not one of them have keept thier word. They tell us what they think we would like to hear, then when we have voted, laugh in our face's. They kill our children, they pocket our money(well have you ever heard of a poor m.p) and make us live on the bread line. They tax everything except for the air we breath and they'll be taxing that next. So I do'nt think i'll vote this time for anyone.

I don't live in England, but I support Tony Blair. From what I hear of him, and what I observe of him, he is a respectable person, and he is a good leader.
