Oh right. I reckon the men should lift up the toilet seat and leave it up so the women have an excuse to shout at them

Does it really matter? I hear the arguement that women almost fall in during the night if they use it why don't they just open their eyes?

I say it should be down, however, I think that people should really open their eyes, even if they're in a hurry, they shouldn't have waited to the brink of explosion, nature calls when nature calls. I usually put down the cover as well, and I'm sure that's inconsiderate for everyone, but I don't care, I think it's disgusting to have it open and the germs come out if their are any. I'm male by the way, obviously.

Not everyone is scared of the dark and turns on the light to use the toilet...
All things being equal, the toilet seat is down 3/4's of the time. So naturally down. Gentlemen put the seat down, so I can see where the confusion comes in for some.

I actually prefer--and put it--down. I know I'm a guy, but it's been engraded in me
I actually voted up, though, on accident.

...I've never lived in the same house as a guy, so I've never really *gotten* the whole issue. Down, just 'cause it's courteous, but it has yet to bother me...

I don't understand it either, but guys are supposed to prefer it up, so that's why I made that comment.

Up. All you women have to do is see that it's up and then put it down when you need to use the can.

I myself don't care that much if it's up
I have four brothers so when there are five guys in one house and only two women... the seat is almost allways up. anyway I just think it's amusing to hear people discuss this. It's one of those industrialized-country-issue...
Oh and what's all that with the whirl in the toilets? I Never get a whirl in the toilets here... It's just *splosh*... no whirl.

My mother would get upset at me doing simple things like leaving cabinets open by mistake and so forth so I leave the seat up whenever she gets on my case I figure its fair play.

Yano what, a guy can jsut as easily "fall in" as a girl when he has to sit on it Now that would be hilarious, he leaves the seat up out of rebellion or forgetfulness and ends upfalling in himself
I've never shared a bathroom with a guy though so, heh

Whichever position is was last used in.
If I have to put it up, the next person has to put it down. I never have a problem putting it down when I need to.

^Hehehe
I think it should be left to whatever state it was left in. That way, A, the little hindges lasts longer (less putting the seat up and down ), and B, it only takes half a second to change it anyway.

I prefer it down because if I need it during the night and don't turn on the light because it bothers my eyes, and the seats down, I don't like that cold wet feeling of falling in.
