Sun Sep 12, 2004 1:49 pm LOG TRAPS TEENAGER! -My Cousin!- |
|
Quote: | The Gleaner -a Kentucky paper- did a story on my cousin! So I'm going to tell you the article! It's not very long, so here I go!
Rescue workers used air bags to free a 13-year-old Henderson girl Saturday morning who was trapped under an 8 foot log that had rolled on top of her.
According to city police, the girl -- whose name is not being released -- complained of chest, abdomen and leg pain. She was transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment. Information about her condition was unavailable Saturday evening.
The accident occurred about 10 a.m. when the girl and her friend were climbing on a pile of logs located on a slope in a tree line along Stratman Road just north of Racetrack Road.
Authorities said the top log, which was about 8 feet long and around 18 inches in diameter, started to roll. The girl slipped, fell backward about 4 feet onto her back and the log rolled on top of her, police said.
Officials said people in the area tried to lift the log off the girl but it was too heavy. The Henderson Fire Department was called to the scene and used air bags to raise the log so the girl could be pulled out from under it.
Police said the girl was alert and talking throughout the rescue and complained of pain in her abdomen, chest and right leg.
She also had a scratch on her chin.
The other juvenile was not injured. |
My family didn't want her name or medical information released because they don't want the public in our buisness..They arn't really bad, and she lived, so yeah!
And here's some pictures!

Holy cow is right! My Gosh! I'm so sorry...Is she doing alright?
It is, however, cool that your cousin is in the news, but the circumstances could have been better...

Whats amazing is she's fine! A miracle!
She has a internally bruised back, heart, and kidney.
But there are 2 things that could have gone wrong:
If the log would have moved 2 more inches, it would have rolled over her head cracking her skull and killing her, than rolled onto my sister.
Or, if the logs she was lying on weren't there, the piece of metal under them would have broken her back or gone right through her.
