PostWed Aug 04, 2004 6:07 am    The need of power

China is one of the fastest developing countries today (I think even the fastest developing country, but I'm not sure). China use mainly coal power in the production of electricity. The coal pollute the enviroment, but right now they dont have much chose. The country is developing, and they will need much more power in the future, so they cant just shut down the coal powerplants.

Right now China is building the world's largest hydroelectric power station located in the Yellow river. This will produce power so that china will be abel to better cope with the growing need of electricity. The hydroelectric power station will gather up water in a big pond, that will drown the surrounding enviroment. Millions of people will have to move because thier homes will be drowned. Below this power station the torrent of water will run short so many more people have to move.

Millions of Chineses have to move to survive. Often without any help of transportation. (It's like asking the whole swedish population to move to Germany or some other country...) But they can't stay on coal forever
They need the power, but is the hydroelectric power station worth it?

We will never run out of oil, because no one will afford to use the last litre.

Mmmm...not sure. U got a point about moving people. The less people moved, the better. But also, the supply of coal isn't infinite and it's also pollutive. I think It'd be better to find a third source of energy. Something similar to solar energy. Or maby Nuclear energy. I bet that in those capatious lands they must have some ore for them. And it doesn't take p so much space, it's safe and clean and it produces A LOT of energy. So I'd go for NPP.

But you have to keep in mind that the Chinese goverment isn't that stabil. I dont think they are really ready to handle something as dangerous as NP can be. At least not yet. And solar energy is very expensive! They have a population of 1.3 billion (i think) and expanding...

China is a shame to Socialism. I don't like them. They call themselves Communists, but they are more like Fascists, or a poor, sad and failed example of Communism. A Stalinist state.

They need a new flag.
