PostMon Aug 09, 2004 4:00 pm    I HAVE Comcast Broadband Internet! Details...

This Friday I am getting Concast Broadband Internet, so I will be wiping my Hardrive and making it from ME to XP.
This will mean that my Internet will run faster and things will be much better! I can't wait.
Now, what do those of you that have Broadband of any sort think of it? (I have a 56K bps modem now)

Wow, I hate ME.

Yes, I have comcast broadband internet. It is super fast, but here are the drawbacks:

1. Upload. One of the worst upload speeds available. DSL kicks its ass in upload speeds.

2. Pop ups. So many pop ups. Easily taken care of my the google toolbar or otherwise, but annoying still.

3. Spyware. Every day I get the DSO Exploit, care of Comcast. Doesnt do much, but still quite annoying.

Otherwise its been great, I think its worth the few crappy little things with it.

its so fast so that makes it really good, also you can get rid of the popups by getting crazy browser, it stops ALL popups.

Yes, using Firefox or Safari or Mozilla will solve the pop up problem, and the spyware one too im sure.

Comcast basically is A T&T Broadband. They just bought it.

Good luck to you though.

Very true, the representitves know nothing. I confused 4 representitives in a row, before finally getting some answers out of a manager guy. It was quite amusing. In the end I got a self install kit, and did the work myself, since they are so damn stupid. I am not paying $100 to have them get on my computer, run an easy as hell CD, and connect a LAN cable to my computer. Total bull.

Well you know what? Bah to AOL. They really are bad. When you cancel the service, they keep charging you. It happened TWICE to two different people I know.

I hope that i'll never have to go back to AOL, comcast all the way! AOL may be a little cheaper...but when you think about the defference between them...comcast is alot better.

I pay $100 a month...

I could get my broardband for $30 or so, but the slower speed one with like 500mb a month downloads or something. 500mb is like half a day for me.

I pay for the faster speed, the unlimited downloads and uploads, and a static IP address for web hosting if I wish. I'm also with the best ISP in Aussie

Now all I need to be really professional is my wanted cisco 837 adsl router and get rid of this crappy $90 bridged mode usb modem.

I might end up going with AOL broadband, because its one of the few that isn't putting on download limits here in England. I'm with BT broadband right now, and it's really fast (maybe something to do with a contention ratio of about 5:1 )

Yup, we had a letter from BT that said we were downloading 300% of what will be in the future our download limit, and we'd have to pay extra to continue. So I'm going to find a different provider

Well, it looks like Comcast promises to be good!
This means that I will not be online for most of Thursday and most of Friday, though.

LOOOOOVE IT!
I think we have like 1Mb/s or something, so it's not that fast... but it's enogh. I wouldn't stand using 56K modem, cuz I've gotten use to about 500kb/s. I would go crazy if I had to go back!!! GAH!
