I watched a program a while back talking about the invention of holograms at the minute the best we can do is create a head of a person but about half an 8th the size of that persons head, does anybody else know anything?

Alton Towers had a miniture hologram in the ghost house as you qued up, it was a miniture and wanderd around a dolls house, but it was a proper 3D hologram. It was proberly possible because it was a darkend room, to get a fullsize one in bright daylight would take loads of power and proberly specialy powerfull emiters.

World's largest hologram at airport
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport soon will be home to the world's largest holographic image, thanks to three businesses in Austin.
Samsung Austin Semiconductor LLP, Zebra Imaging and frog design teamed up to create the hologram, which will float in full color and in three dimensions over the first-floor baggage claim area.
The first panel is 10 feet long by 4 feet wide. When all panels are up, the images will be 30 feet long and 4 feet wide. The hologram should be completed this fall.
The holograms are part of the airport's second anniversary celebration. Frog design created the images, and Zebra Imaging produced the holograms. Samsung underwrote costs for production.
Visitors to the airport can see the image beginning May 23.

I hear that the military is wanting to figure out how to build a holodeck and holograms for training. I don't know if it is true or not.

geez, i read up on all of this, and the only real holograms (and 3-d pics wouldnt be holograms)
are at this car company, holograms are 3-d images you can touch and interact with. And they can!
They have to use a special pointer, but it changes to what you do to it!(like poking holes [hehe])

Could you repeat that, in English?
Also, a hologram is a three-dimensional image only, consisting of the interference patterns created when two light sources at exactly the same wavelength both reflect off the same object(s).

That doll in the dolls house at Alton Towers was scary! But then, I wet myself with fear when I saw the Exocist...
Holograms have been advancing in recent years, but to get a 3D image you need to have something to project it onto, like a sheet of glass or perhaps a small forcefield?
