AOL News wrote:
Controversial Islamic cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi has cancelled plans to deliver a speech to a police-sponsored conference.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed it will continue to back the Our Children Our Future event now that Dr al-Qaradawi will not be appearing.

Fears had been raised that the cleric could use the Muslim education conference as a platform for his extremist views.

Although police insisted he will not make a speech, conference organiser Hasan Mueenuddin said Dr al-Qaradawi will address an audience of thousands in Wembley, north west London, at Sunday's event.

In a statement, a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "As Dr al-Qaradawi is not speaking at the conference, we have decided to continue sponsoring this event.

"To withdraw support at this late stage could damage our partnership with the Muslim community in London and their involvement in helping us tackle and prevent criminal activity."

But Mr Mueenuddin said: "I am certain that he is going to speak at the conference. As far as we are concerned, he is coming. He is one of our invited guests. He is going to speak. That is definite."

Police have already passed a file on the fundamentalist Islamic cleric to the Crown Prosecution Service with regard to a possible prosecution.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens said members of the Jewish Council had made an official complaint against Dr al-Qaradawi in response to his earlier speeches.

Pressure is also growing on the Government to deport Dr al-Qaradawi after he spoke openly of his support of suicide bombing in Israel and Iraq, saying that "martyrs" had no option.

Sir John said: "The anger that was created by the comments made by the individual is considerable."

In one of the speechs refered to in the report he said that we should kill all gays, it is ok to beat disobedient women, it is ok for people to suicide bomb themselves and that we should wipe out the Jews. He has been banned from the US. I think he should be chucked out of Britian, or recieve a prison sentence.
