This is a simple poll but very ..... controversal (SP) there will be two simple answers Yes and No becuase of what this is about I would like it if people just said yes or no I prefer there being no fights or anyone saying who is right and who isn't so like I said before just say Yes or No when you vote.

If they can and want to serve their country, why not? They too are just ordinary people like you and me.

I voted yes.

What would you do with the accomodations aboard subs and carriers? It'd be like co-ed showering, etc...
And yes, I know homosexuals can be in a comitted, monogamous relationship, but so are a lot of the married men aboard ship, and things still happen. You'd have to have 4 heads, Men, Women, Gay Men, and Lesbians. And since it took them this long to let women actively serve, I don't see this happening for awhile. Though most likely it will.

No offence... but...

Softness is not what the military wants. They want men who are strong willing and able to fight, work, and defend the country.

If you send some gay guy into combat you think he is going fight good or win at all? Most likely not...

i would say no...to no offence at all (my opinion)

that is true, it took a while for they to let blacks serve openly, but i think gays will be allowed to serve given time

Gays may be different, but a lot of them still believe in the American dream and are willing to fight for it. As long as their morals don't interfere with their duty, it's fine with me.

That's a very narrow-minded and stereotypical view you have. If and when the army trains and accepts people as soldiers, they will serve their country and do their best. The urge for fighting for their own country and especially the possibility of being allowed should be independant of sex, skin color, religion and sexual orientation.

Not neccesarily. Just two in my view; one for the women and one for the men. Once being in the army, all personel should follow strikt rules. On eof them being not to have any sexual relationship whilst on duty. So there would be no problem.

If, for any reason, someone does no abide to the rules, it should be dealt with, swiftly and correctly.

If they meet the requirements just as well as everyone else does, why not. That is PURE segragation. However, if they, or a strait man for that matter cannot meet all requirements, then no, they should not be allowed. I beleive the military has adopted a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. That seems like just the right the. As long as everyone can keep there sexuality to themselves, there is no problem.

I am sorry, but I do not think that it is right to stereotype all gay men, and throw them into this category.

Gay men are men too. Physically, they are no different than anyone else, and therefore suitable for the army.

And all gay people are not "softies". Some, most even, gay people act just like anyone else, they just prefer to have sexual relations with the same sex, which is...beyond me, quite frankly, but if they wish to do so, then I wont stop them.

So, I voted yes, gays should be allowed in the army, simply because I do not see why they shouldnt.

The Military should be men and women only.

The world should be and always be men marrying women and having children.

NOT men marrying other men and doing nasty stuff.

I dont like gays because things like the AIDS epidemic started in the gay community.

PEOPLE JUST DONT UNDERSTAND.

( My Opinion )

Even gay men and women are still men and women. If they want to fight for their country and meet the standards that the military sets, no one has the right to stop them.

Things change, Gene mutations occur. It happens to all walks of life and we're no different. No one has the right to deny someone else their rights.

common misconception. the AIDS epidemic didn't start in the gay community. Unfortunetly, it grews rampant there because they didn't take precautions.

I know Link just basically said all of this....however, I have to get it out.

Gay men, and gay women ARE men and women. Just because they do not see eye to eye with YOUR opinion does not mean that they should become 3rd class.

You are entitled to your opinion, yes. However, to say you " don't like gays" is a very racy comment. You may not agree with their sexuality, however, just as you get to state YOUR opinion, gay men and women are entitled to live there life (with in reason) just as we live ours, making our own choices, they should be able to make descions about their own sexuality. ( I am assuming you live in the US) We live in the United States of America, where people are free to persue life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. And seeing as I can't see how gays are stopping you from doing any of this, I think that your thinking is flawed and dangerous.

I don't see a problem with homosexuals serving in the military. If they want to defend their country, then why not let them? Seems like just plain old fashioned discrimination to not let them.

I don't agree with the way gay people live, and I'm on the other side of the fence usually. However...

Why the heck not? I mean, if they want to fight for America, what's wrong with that? I see no reason to disallow gays in the military, even if I don't agree with them. That's just wrong.

Why bother with two, then? Why not just one giant uni-whatever head. Because that is what it would be for lesbians/heterosexual women heads, and gay men/het men heads. You can't tell me it wouldn't make you uncomfortable to have women constantly ogling you while you shower. I know I'll get some dumbasses replying that they'd love it, but in that reply, they show their immaturity.

And please, when quoting, don't edit the middle of a comment. Because now I have to repeat what I previously said for those who will attack and say, "just because someones gay doesn't mean they are checking you out". (Clearly showing they haven't read the entire topic.)

What if they just kept with their "don't ask don't tell" policy? Oooor, just haave different TIMES to shower....one for the heterosexual of the gender, and one for the homosexual of the gender?

Tough call, I say yes, so long as the Gays try to keep it on the Down Low, and ANY violation of rules regarding it would be harshly dealt with.

Well, it is logical for that in certain situations, the best thing at this time would be to seperate. As I said earlier, I am completely for gays, being allowed to serve. That is removing some of the segregation. This really was not that good of an idea anyway though because it runs over the "don't ask, don't tell policy". As long as this policy is followed, there would probably be the most minimal friction.

Women aren't allowed on subs. Isn't that also discrimination?
