Quote:
The Reagan Principle
A Report on the Greatest American President of the 20th Century

General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!
On June 12th, 1987, of the most climactic and impressive speeches ever made was Ronald Reagans Remarks at the Brandenburg Gate. This speech would assist him in his questand eventual accomplishmentin winning the Cold War and forcing the USSR to close downfor good.

The Reagan Administration: 1981 through 1989. In it was an omnipotent criticism-taker: Ronald Reagan. Born on February 6th, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois, Ronald Reagan witnessed many events and lived through the Great Depression. A document written by Ronald Reagan himself stated, According to family legend, when my father ran up the stairs and looked at his newborn son, he quipped: He looks like a fat little Dutchman. But who knows, he might grow up to be president some day. During my mother's pregnancy, my parents had decided to call me Donald. But after one of her sisters beat her to it and named her son Donald, I became Ronald. Interesting tale. As his career moved on, he decided to become an actor, acting in the Broadway play The Philadelphia Story as well as films such as Love is in the Air and The Hollywood Reporter. Eventually Reagan decided to move into politics, as on January 4th, 1966, he announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor of California. He would spend 2 terms in the gubernatorial office, and his destiny would bring him to become the greatest President of the 20th Century.

The Reagan and Carter Administrations: The Differences
Before Reagans first term, Jimmy Carter had ruined America and had too many peace-obsessed views (not that peace is a bad thing, quite the contrary). Contrary to Carter, who would sign a treaty with Russia and then automatically take their word for it, Reagan wanted trust and verification. He would think it through before acting. Also, during the Carter administration, inflation was in double-digits. He had shambled the military, brought in low job rates, and forced the world to have a worldwide moral deficit. Ronald Reagan, as will being explained in further detail later in this report, made people proud to be Americans, yet again, brought the military back of greatly, and increased the job rate exponentially. Ronald Reagan, before his Alzheimers got sever, was pro-life, appointed pro-life judges, and had a deep faith in God. Finally, he believed in low taxes and was hated by the Liberals for being the Father of Modern Conservatism, stopping communism, and for wanting smaller government. Under the Reagan Administration, life in the United States would be good again.

Day One:
Reagans very first accomplishmentalthough many Liberals deny that he did itwas on the day of his inauguration. In 1980, Iran took an American hostage and Jimmy Carter tried unsuccessfully to save him, as he only sent in a few helicopters. Approximately 444 days later, the day Reagan took office, Iran released the hostage. They knew that Reagan, unlike Carter, would take decisive action against terrorism, unlike Carter or any other Democrat, and so the Iranians fearfully released the hostage. Therefore, in actuality, Ronald Reagan was the first President to take action to defeat terrorism.

The Truth about the Reagan Economy:
The economy, on the other hand, was something else Jimmy Carter handled horribly. It had not been that bad since the Great Depression, and thus Reagan came into office. His handling of the economy had a remarkable impact. Lies such as, Americans uniquely burdened with red ink, and the country was collapsing beneath the Twin Towers of Debt. Only another tax increase could save us, and We had been rendered economically uncompetitive, hopelessly in debt to foreigners, and at their mercy. These are lies. According the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, only Germany, France, and in 1986, Japan had lower debts than America. The table states ALL that you would need to know.

At last, a myth had been told that most of the jobs created during the Reagan administration were, to quote a report by Ed Rubenstein, an economic analyst, as dead-end, burger-flipper variety, and that Millions of American workers forced to move between jobs that once paid %15 dollars an hour into jobs that now pay $7. These are of course lies made by the left-wing attack machine to make Reagan look bad. They also included statements that the richer were richer and people with lower status poorer. These are lies that can clearly be proven wrong from the below chart:

82 percent of the jobs created during the Reagan recovery were in fact, contrary to popular belief, higher-paying, higher skilled jobs. Only 12 percent of the jobs were lower-paying jobs.
And finally, in another report created by Ed Rubenstein, myths such as, The 1986 tax act was pro-rich, and On average, a millionaire in 1986 paid an alternative minimum tax of $116,395. Three years later, a millionaire paid %54,758. That amounted to 53 percent tax cut. (Philadelphia Inquirer, October 1991). Another chart says all:

The Soviet Union & Communism
The Soviet Union was a force of terror on Earth. It was the country that showed the evils and wrongs of communism and the only other super-power on the planet and was an empire that fell, thanks to the efforts of Ronald Reagan. The Cold War was truly about proving whether communism or democracy could prevail. Communism is not an economic system, but rather a government system with extreme socialist economic views. In the communist system, the government controls all aspects of society, from the economy to speech, to religion, to the press, and many more things. Democracy, in conjunction with capitalism, on the other hand, allows for the exact opposite of things. There is, in the United States, for instance, freedom of speech and religion and many other freedoms. Due to that fact, Democracy was proven to be better than communism, and thanks to Reagan, that fact allowed for the USSR to fail.
Reagan would go on to call, in a speech, the USSR an evil empire. They knew that they were evilthey just didnt think that the other countries knew that, and so they got nervous. This statement eventually lead to his increasing support in the Berlin Wall area around Germany, which in turn lead to his Remarks at the Brandburg Gate. This speech, of which will be discussed more shortly, sparked the fire that would burn down, pardon the pun, the Berlin Wall and truly allowed for the collapse of the once vast empire.
The most memorable lines of the Remarks that Opened Eyes were, We welcome change and openness; for we believe that freedom and security go together, that the advance of human liberty can only strengthen the cause of world peace. There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! These remarks would play the most significant role in the ending of the tyranny of the Soviet Union and the danger of a grave threat.

SDI; Strategic Defense Initiative: The Star Wars Program:
The Strategic Defense Initiative was announced in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan in order to develop a defensive shield against nuclear missiles. Ronald Reagan himself wrote a report that stated that early in his first term he met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and asked them if there was a way to create a defense against nuclear weapons. They said soo, and shortly after some named it Star Wars. Ronald Reagan himself stated that he believed that the Strategic Defense initiative was the single most important reason for the historic breakthroughs in his next five years in office in the quest for peace and better relations with the Soviets.
The whole reason, from Reagans perspective, can be seen from this statement that he had made for a report: Since I knew it would be a long and difficult task to rid the world of nuclear weapons, I had this second dream: the creation of a defense against nuclear missiles, so we could change from a policy of assured destruction to one of assured survival. My deepest hope was that someday our children and our grandchildren could live in a world free of the constant threat of nuclear war. Although I don't think I was ever able to convince the American people of the seriousness of the threat we faced from Marxist guerrillas in Central America, I think I succeeded in making my point when I took my case to the public regarding the need to press ahead with modernizing our military forces - Americans valued, above all, the security of their nation. During my speech to the country on March 23, I revealed some recently declassified information about the enormous Soviet arms buildup and previously secret photos documenting the expansion of Soviet military facilities on Cuba. I know that all you want is peace, and so do I, I said. I know too that many of you seriously believe that a nuclear freeze would further the cause of peace. But a freeze now would make us less, not more, secure and would raise, not reduce, the risks of war. I didn't want the United States to be in an arms race, I said, but the Soviet Union had put us in one and our survival as a nation was at stake. After appealing to the American people to tell their congressmen they were behind the military modernization program, I revealed my dream for the Strategic Defense Initiative.
For the system he planned to provide a layer of defense using advanced weapons to intercept incoming missiles in midcourse, high above the earth. Included in the weapons would be space- and ground-based nuclear X-ray lasers, subatomic particle beams, and computer-guided projectiles fired by electromagnetic rail guns. It would be run under a supercomputer system. A network of space-based sensors and mirrors that could direct the laser beams at targets would support these weapons. Some of the stated weapons were actually being developed, but other weapons, mainly the laser systems and supercomputer, were not obtainable.
Conclusion Sentence (Thesis Statement):
Through all of Reagans accomplishments, from maintaining a thriving economy to sparking the fire that forced the collapse of the Soviet Union along with many other accomplishments, Ronald Reagan surely was the 2nd best President of the United States of America.

This, I can safely say, is not one of my better pieces, but it's decent. I just wanted to cut through all the lies and spinning that I've been hearing about Reagan recently.
