Mon May 31, 2004 7:26 pm KKK :D Jokes on them, :D |

Quote: | I'm sure many of you are aware that about two weeks ago, the US Supreme Court ruled that the state of Missouri cannot discriminate against the Ku Klux Klan when it comes to groups that want to participate in the adopt-a-highway program. Of course, while the name of the Klan is aesthetically disgusting, we'd all agree that this decision is a victory for free speech and equal protection under the law, right?
Well, the DOT in Missouri has gotten their revenge, and boy is it sweet. Sure, they can't remove the KKK's adopt-the-highway sign, but few would dispute the state's ability to name the highway itself.
The KKK is now cleaning up a stretch of the newly-christened Rosa Parks Freeway.

1991, but amusing nonetheless,

Just thought I'd share, if it was okay; our GT (Gifted/Talented) class was playing Apples to Apples, where a green apple card had the category, and everyone had a hand of reds, which would be contributed, picking the word that best fit the category. So 'pure' came up as the category, and it became a toss-up between the KKK and 'my mind,' KKK won.

Everytime I hear about the KKK, I get so angry. They disgust me beyond belief. I am so angry right now.

Yeah, I agree, but at least they are not a large threat to African Americans anymore.

Yeah, that is true. I just don't see how someone can be so hateful just depending on their religion or thier skin color and stuff like that. I just can't see it. Makes me sick.

although during the civil rights movement the Ku Klux Klan were responsible for thousands of Deaths that were racially motivated, why do people hate them that much? (I'm half Asian so don't bother pulling the white supremacist card on me)
The Ku Klux Klan was originally formed up with 5 guys as a group dedicated to harmless fun and the way of the south (Almosst like a Southern American Scout Group). The Original Ku Klux Klan even had black KKK Members, and many Blacks agreed with the ideals of the Ku Klux Klan. Later on Nathaniel Bedford Forrest the Leader of the National Ku Klux Klan even tried to collapse the organisation when it's true purpose was deviated.

I've gotten all my information from a Book called "Klan-destine relationships" which was written by a Afro-American author Darryl Davis.
I don't consider all KKK members to be Racist, seriously some members generally joined it as a white advancement movement. I seriously reckon that people can be too hard on members of the KKK, why don't we see people ridiculing Farrakhan and his Black Supremist "Nation of 'Islam'" to the extent as the KKK? We see Black Police Associations and Black Miss America Beauty Pagants but if we were to hold white ones, Oh God! there would be riots!
Let's face it the civil rights period has ended and with the exception of a few minor cases, there are barely any serious cases of discrimination to the extent that there were 50 years ago.

^ I find that very interesting, and I do not doubt it, however, do also keep in mind that some klansmen are neo-nazis.
