PostSun May 16, 2004 10:29 am    Paramount refuses TNG uniform sale to Patrick Stewart!

On May 12th, Patrick Stewart appeared on The Late Late Show. Stewart talks of how actors took TNG memorabilia. Craig Kilborn played a bit much of a clown next to the somewhat austere actor -- but the talk-show host sets up a pleasant Star Trek surprise for the former Starship Captain. Fans who like Rick Berman will say that the gift proves he's a good guy. Trekkies who diss Berman may hiss that the cobwebbed offering is ten years too late...

The next day, May 13th, Patrick Stewart appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where he was unofficially knighted -- and we learn of the Englishman's favored martini ingredient: Gin, not vodka (as yet unknown: shaken, or stirred?) There's a proper number of olives for a martini. Why did Stewart hate the original Professor Xavier action figure? Do you know why some things go missing in your home and then mysteriously reappear? This information could change your life...

On May 18th, Patrick Stewart appeared on The Today Show, along with Glenn Close, to talk about his movie "The Lion in Winter". Stewart's co-producer on this film is wife Wendy Neuss-Stewart, who was also a producer on the "Star Trek: Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Voyager" TV series.

There's no talk of "Star Trek" or "Captain Picard" in this interview, but, for what it's worth, Katie Couric does happen to use the words "engage" and "enterprise" in the same sentence!

P.S. William Shatner's "Shoot or Be Shot!" comedy was released on DVD yesterday. Harvey Wilkes (Shatner) is an escaped mental patient who wants to be a screen writer. Actors and a director are held hostage and forced to shoot Harvey's movie!
