The Universe is infinite scientist say, but it cannot be proven.

When things move away from Earth they seem to go back in time.

How come space is black? If there are stars in all directions shouldn't that make space bright?

A theory states the Universe is expanding.

The distribution of the cosmic microwave background indicates the universe is "flat" (open). Maybe not proof, but strong evidence.

I think what you're trying to say is that the image of an object far away from Earth reveals what it looked like in the past. This is because it takes light a finite time to travel a finite distance. It takes about 11 hours for radio signals from Pioneer 10 to reach Earth, but Pioneer 10 has not gone back in time.

Space is mostly empty. It looks black because there is nothing there to deliver light into our eyes. The sky looks bright because the lights is striking many, many atoms and molecules.

The "inflationary model" of the universe is starting to be questioned. No one piece of evidence discounts it, but anomalies are piling up....

Space is expanding thats because the number of Dark matter is growing faster then its opposite which deexpands the space. Just as the world population. 5 people are born per sec. on earth. 2 die each sec. So that leaves 3 people more per sec. On this very moment space is expanding and in a million years space is a very lonely place. Every thing is pusted away from eachother like two + magnets. Dark Matter is a bitch

People say that when you look at stars extreamly far away it's like looking into the past because you sort of are. Take the sun for example. We are in fact recieving the light it sends out 8 minutes ago. By the time the light from a far away star reaches us, the light is millions of years old, and with it, the image of that star.
