The tired pen resides alone,
Feeding the fuel of a man unknown.
He surges across the midnight current,
Sitting faceless in a shadowed turret.

Once greatness had passed over his eyes,
His soul was binded by this paralyze.
The dauntless words by intrepid hand,
Withered down by blazing sands.

The sun falls, it seems, with every stroke
Of the pen that mocks with relentless joke.
The fire that burned once within his skin
Now doused by a torrent of vodka and gin.

Each passing tick of the merciless clock
Is drowned out constantly with each mocking tock.
His dwelling not withstanding beatings of rain,
He hears, each day, his cries of pain.

But just as all stories must come to an end,
The writ of his pen becomes a lost trend.
As his final chapter comes to a close,
The gunshot rings, leaving ideas exposed.
