Almost everyone knows that Deuterium is Warp Core Fuel. Most do not know that is actually the strongest form of Hydrogen.
Starfleet ships are powered by Hydrogen, which is the most common gas in the solar systems.

I think he's talking about the Hyper-X. It runs on hydrogen and oxygen, just like the shuttle's main engines. The downside is that it only works above a speed a bit less than Mach 5, so it needs another mode of propulsion to get it moving. There's a lot of work being done to bridge the gap between air-breathing turbine engines and rocket engines, and also between liquid and solid fuels.
