Well in a way I don't really care but also I think it should stay the way it is....it has been like this since the whole site was created why mess with it now right.

Really, the post count doesn't do much. in the Past, Some people just Spammed so their post count would rise.

All it really is, is just a number. it's nothing to be proud of and nothing to see as an accomplishment. It's there to show how active people are.

I would say probably keep it. Generally it helps show newbies who the more experienced users are so that they can ask for help and so on. But then I suppose there's mods for that.....

OK, I know everyone loves having a post count. I sure do.

I like the option 'viewable in profile only.' Thats a really good idea. That way, its not in the way, yet its still around to make people feel good. Its a nice compromise.

Leave it alone...it doesn't hurt anything, people dont get in fights about it, and its fun. Even if some people see it as a heirarchy thing, hey thats the way the world works, its natural, and is everywhere.

Its not really bothering me at all, but to think of it most of the time I dont pay attention it it. Many times this has been said, its not about the amount its about the quality. Thats all I look for in posts

So why bother with it? There are lots of spamers out there but all I have to say about them is that there quality is very poor and that most of there posts are useless and we dont want them. I dont care if someone has a billion posts or 1, its the quality I care about.

I'd say do away with it in Fun and Games. That's the place people are most likely to spam to get a higher postcount.

Post counts are supposed to be a fun feature. A feature that should only be used to suggest how active or how long a user has been on the boards. It should not be used as a competitive measurement. No post should be for the SOLE sake of increasing post count. If there is abuse in this matter, the abuser's post count will be reduced.

Well, I like having the post count, and we seem to have a lot of responsible people here, som I say leave it the way it is. But if a lot of spam starts popping up then get rid of it for say a month or so and see if there's any change.

Personally, I dont see why it needs to be changed at all. People have spammed in the past to increase their rank, and those posts have been deleted. Why should those who are proud of thier posts and have posted responsibly be the ones to lose out? If people aren't spamming to increase rank, they'd find another reason. Maybe the problem is not post counts, but quality of posts instead of quantity. Maybe we should focus on that instead?

^ that's preciesly what I think. In another topic I had said to set it to 0 and then only increase it according to quality of the posts. That way the people that spam, wouldn't increase it at all.
