PostTue Mar 02, 2004 7:21 pm    Kirk/Janeway Crossover

I have been wanting to write a fan fiction for a long time where Janeway ends up on Kirk's ship during Kirk's era with her memory wiped. She soon accepts her role on Kirk's ship where the crew believe she is an amnesiac alien.

Back in Voyager's time, the crew are attempting to find out what has happened to Janeway.

I have NEVER written fan fiction in my life. Can someone please give me some advice?

1) I have reservations about writing dialogue for established characters. Should I keep second-guessing every piece of dialogue I write or should I sometimes go with what feels right?

2) Is the above premise stupid? Could it be better?

3) Has anyone ever done a similar story because I don't want to be accused of copying?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, I think I can only comment on your second question. No, I don't think it's stupid but, I do think that the writers of Star Trek don't like timetravels and bringing crew members of earlier series back or even crossovers in general.

If and when they bring back people from another Star Trek series, it's mostly always written by the Star Trek writting staff themselves. The writting staff likes stand alone stories; stories that don't continue on other stories and/or characters.

However, there are always exceptions. I myself once wanted to write a storie for TNG when they were still on but never got round to acually doig it.

If you wanna try, go for it, don't give up!

Oliver

Just write, and see how it turns out. Oh, and don't worry about someone else writing a similar story, there are so many authors out there that there's hardly anything that's really new anymore.
