I don't know the "canon" answer, but we already use radio frequency technology to remotely power devices. In theory (and already in practice), the same RF signal powers the remote device and provides a communication channel.

We do see the power supply run out in the ep where Worf, Alexander, and Troi are trapped on the holodeck with all the Datas. Worf uses it to create a foce field

i thought that the phasers were always self regenerating and so i woulda thought that the com badge would be the same since it doesnt use alot of power
