If there was a building standing on the horizon I couldn't see it. I couldn't see anything but smoldering piles of rubble. Metal twisted out of recognition, stones smashed into smaller pieces, pieces of cloth blowing through the vacant streets and snaring on the shards of glass. I couldn't see anything but the distruction left behind by the attack.

And all through this I knew what I had done. I had attacked the city. I had caused all this destruction. I had caused the desturction of this human refugee camp. I had burned the place to the ground, crushing the buildings with the sheer power of my armada. I had killed, I had crushed, I had destroyed.

I stood in the wind, my dark hair blowing out behind me, my dark eyes turning over the destruction that I had left behind. And I searched for some feeling of remorse in my soul. I searched for some reason to cry over the people that I had killed. I had killed women, children, men, the elderly. I had attacked without warning. I had attacked out of no where.

But I always had my reasons. I had a reason buried deep in my smoldering heart which was fed by the red hot coals of the deep seated passion I had against this city. This city had taken away my life. This city had taken away the people that I loved. This city was sin. This city was to be destroyed.

Years ago this city had been my home. I had lived here with the rest of the human population that had managed to escape the computer generated reality, or reather the unreality, which we named the Matrix. I had lived here as a part of the higher class of the city. I never worked. I never did much of anything. I was simply there. I was simply alive. And that was all that mattered to a human then. I simply wanted to live.

I was freed of the world that had been a lie for the first fifteen years of my life. I was freed of the world that had taught me to hate. I was freed of the world that had taught me to kill.

Now I was with my people. And I didn't want to leave. But the city drove me to it. The city drove me to leave. Too many pressures. Too many matters to attend. I was the Daughter of Zion, the one and only link to finding the One once again. The people saw me as a savior. They saw me as the only link to the salvation of humanity.

And I didn't want to be the link.

I wanted to get away. I wanted to leave this place. That's when the coals began to burn. That's when my heart began to flame with the passion of leaving the city. I had left. I had left in the dead of night. And I still remembered what I had screamed as I ran out of the city.

" May defeat come knocking."

That's what I had screamed. And that was what I had just accomplished.
