This is the first Voyager Alpha Quadrant episode, this is only the first draft but I thought you all might like to take a look...
Voyager Alpha Quadrant,
‘Sins of the Mother’
Admiral Janeway sat in her office at Starfleet Command. Since her promotion she has drowned herself in work. Examining data information about the Alpha Quadrant, learning all the information she missed out on when she was in the Delta Quadrant. Her time on Voyager made her realise how much she had missed, good and bad. The main event that sends shivers down her spine is the mass loss of life the Federation suffered during the Dominion War. Her desk, cluttered with data pads and mugs of cold coffee her monitor chimed. Prying herself away from the data padd she reached her hand to the console feeling for the comm. Button and activated it. “Admiral Janeway, you have a visitor, its Mr Chakotay.”
“Send him in,” she said.
The doors parted each other and Chakotay entered carrying a bag and wearing civilian clothing. He noticed the clutter on Janeway’s desk and the empty mugs of coffee. “Are you ready?” he asked.
Janeway didn’t answer right away; she paused the scrolling data padd and took a moment to think. “Actually I was thinking about cancelling, you should see the paperwork I have to do.”
“Kathryn, you haven’t had a full day off since we got back. You deserve a break.”
Janeway smiled at him. She noticed the basket of food he was carrying and could see he went to a lot of trouble. “Fine, just give me a minute to sort out a few things here.”
------------------------
In orbit of Earth the USS Voyager was docked at a shipyard. Many little shuttles were coming and going. Everyone on Earth was fascinated with the Voyagers journey. News reporters, alien tourists from all around the Federation wanted to see the USS Voyager, ‘the miracle ship’. Starfleet had ordered the Voyager crew to take shore leave while the people of Earth could marvel in the wonders of what Voyager had to offer. The ship was refitted and updated with all the latest Federation technology, but the ship still hadn’t received its first official mission since it returned.
Many of the Voyager crew decided to remain aboard after the ship returned. Voyager had become their home. Most of the crew had gone down to Earth or to Risa for Shore leave, except for one person. B’Elanna Torres. Since she left her assignment on Starbase Deep Space Nine where she served as Station engineer and returned to Voyager she has been feeling very uncomfortable. She never imagined that she would be feeling this way. Maybe she had been gone from the ship for so long. Or maybe it was because everyone was treating her differently. When she found out that the accident that returned herself and Lt Cary to the Alpha Quadrant three years earlier duplicated them both she didn’t realise she would be treated as the outsider. From her perspective the other B’Elanna was the outsider, she was the one that didn’t belong. But she told herself she has as much right to be there as her counterpart did. She decided to remain on Voyager, she wasn’t sure where she stood with her family, and all the people she cared about were on Voyager. She knew her father contacted her counterpart a year ago and was beginning to forge a relationship with him again and she herself was pretty sure she wouldn’t hear from him. She wondered what would happen if her father contacted her, would she forgive him, what would she say to him. She was ahead of schedule in her engineering duties so she decided to go to the holodeck and run one of her Klingon exercise programs. As she walked down Voyagers corridors she couldn’t help but bump into the tourists and reporters. “Miss Torres isn’t it?” Someone said from the crowd in the corridor. Torres saw a Benzite in front of her; he was pointing a recording device in her face. She wasn’t amused. “I was hoping to get a few words from the Chief Engineer of Voyager.”
“Who are you?” Torres asked.
“Oh, I am sorry. Mor’zrann, Federation News.”
Torres started walking away with the Benzite following, she wasn’t interested in anything he had to say. “How do you feel about Starfleet’s decision to give all Maquis a full pardon, since many have publicly outspoken against the decision.” He said.
“Look maybe you should ask someone else, I’m in quite a hurry.”
The Benzite was persistent. “I trust you are happy with that decision since you have decided to remain in Starfleet.”
“Look, I told you.” Torres snapped. “I’m in a hurry, so get the hell out of my way or I’ll give you something more than a few words from the Chief Engineer.”
The Benzite halted, pulling his recording device away from Torres. He didn’t say much else and watched Torres head off down the corridor. She walked to the entrance of the holodeck. “Computer, activate Torres Program 576.” She said.
The Computer uttered a few commands letting Torres know the program was active and she could enter the holodeck. She walked from the corridor on Voyager into a dusty, rustic, hot environment. Laying on a nearby rock was a Mek’leth, a klingon weapon of honour. She took off her uniform jacket and picked up the Mek’leth. From the misty dust a fierce klingon came running toward her with a bat’leth. “Defend yourself B’tak!” he cried slicing the air with his weapon. Torres darted to her left, turned around clashed blades with her opponent. Behind her the holodeck doors opened and the newly promoted Lieutenant Harry Kim entered. “I thought you didn’t do all that klingon stuff.” He said.
Torres deflected the holograms bat’leth and ripped open his holo – stomach just as he faded into mist. “Do you always walk in on people during there private holodeck time?” she screamed trying to catch a breath.
“No, I mean I’m sorry.” He stuttered.
“What do you want Harry?” she asked.
“This message just came in for you, it’s from the Klingon Empire.”
Torres took the padd with the message from him. “What, from the Klingon Empire?”
“Yes, look I have to go. Libby is waiting for me”
“Where are you going?” Torres asked.
“Betazed.”
“Betazed?” Torres was puzzled.
“Yes, Libby always wanted to see Betazed, for some reason. See you later!” Harry left the holdeck and headed for the shuttlebay.
Torres sat on a nearby, simulated rock and activated the message.

Down on Earth Janeway and Chakotay were leaving the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. They headed for the bay side beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. It was quite at this time of night and very peaceful. “Its beautiful, isn’t it.” Janeway said, looking at the bridge and the calm water reflecting in the moonlight.
“I never thought I’d see it again.” Chakotay said turning and looking directly at Janeway’s face, staring at her eyes. She saw him staring and quickly changed the subject.
“How is B’Elanna spending shore leave?” she asked.
“Which one?” he said with a slight chuckle. He knew Janeway was talking about the duplicate. “She’s decided to stay on Voyager. She can’t get enough work lately.”
“She must be finding this time difficult, all her friends are with their family and she, well who does she have?”
“Things must be hard for her right now, especially with having to cope with being a duplicate.” The conversation stopped and there was a moment of silence. “I heard from Seven yesterday, she seems to be enjoying her time at Starfleet Science and Astronomy. She finds the people there to be efficient.”
They both laughed. “Tell me something Chakotay.” Janeway paused. “What went wrong with you and Seven?” she asked. “I was surprised when you told me you and her weren’t seeing each other any more.”
Chakotay was intrigued by her question. He knew Janeway more than anyone but he never knew her to ask a personal question about his romantic life. “Lets see, how did Seven put it. ‘We are not compatible individuals’. With both our jobs and returning home. It changed things. Why do you ask?”
“Oh, I was just curious. You never mentioned it before.” She stuttered. “Well I better be getting home. It’s getting late and I have an early start tomorrow.”
“Good night Kathryn.” Chakotay said softly.
Janeway walked back in the opposite direction of Chakotay, not turning back to look at him. Chakotay stared at her leaving then turned around to admire the Golden Gate Bridge.

On Voyager B’Elanna was in engineering, it was very late and she didn’t have to be working. Vorik was there he walked over to her and handed her his weekly engineering report. “I have completed my report Lieutenant.” He said. Torres was a million years away, thinking about the letter she had just received from the Empire. “Lieutenant?” Vorik repeated.
“What!” she belched.
“My report. I have completed my engineering report.”
“Oh, sorry.” Torres paused. “Thanks, I’ll look it over.” She said getting up off her chair, turning back to look at her engineering assistant “Vorik, why aren’t you with your family?” she asked. “We are on shore leave. I thought you would be going to Vulcan?”
Vorik was curious by her question, raising one eyebrow. “I spoke with my relatives earlier today. They are all in perfect health. I saw no logical reason why I should neglect my duties to visit them.”
“Don’t you miss them?” B’Elanna asked. “Don’t you ever feel the need to spend time with them?”
“As a Vulcan, I do not have any emotional feelings. However I do at times miss them.”
Torres sat back down in her chair. “It sounds like Vulcans don’t really care that much for family relationships”.
“You are mistaken Lieutenant.” Vorik said. “Just because I do not visit them or have the emotional attachments that humans do, does not mean I do not care or miss them. I do. If my family ever wanted to see me or needed my help, I would assist right away.”
Torres smiled, Vorik said something that made her think and realise how important family was. “Well I better be getting to bed. I will look over your report Mr Vorik and get it back to you.”
“Good night Lieutenant.” Vorik said calmly.
“Good night” Torres replied.
Torres walked out of engineering and to her quarters. The corridors were a good deal quieter than before. She paced slowly deep in thought at her situation as she entered a turbo lift. “Deck 7.” She paused. “No wait, deck 1.” The turbo lifts lights reflected off her face as it took her to deck 1.
She exited onto the bridge, looking around. “Where’s Chakotay?” she asked Ayala who was standing with his wife, giving her a tour of the ship. “I think he’s in his office. He just got back from San Francisco.”
“Thanks” Torres said heading to Chakotay’s Office. She walked to the opposite side of the bridge by Harry Kim’s station and walked out to Chakotay’s Office. She chimed his doors. “Come in!” a voice from the inside said.
“Chakotay, I need a shuttle.” Torres blurted out darting into his Office.
“What?” Chakotay asked.
“I have no time to explain…”
“Hold on a minute B’Elanna.” Chakotay interrupted. “What’s going on?”
Torres sat down on a nearby chair she noticed Chakotay was still wearing civilian clothing from his dinner with Admiral Janeway. “What’s the problem?” he asked.
Torres looked up at him with slight hesitation. She took a deep breath before she spoke. “I got a message today. From the Klingon Empire.”
“The Empire?” Chakotay said.
“It was from Kar’pec. My mother’s brother.” Torres dropped her head and clasped her hands together.
“Go on.” Chakotay said. He could see Torres was uncomfortable with something.
“He told me I have a sister Chakotay.” Torres said.
Chakotay was surprised, he could understand why B’Elanna darted into his office the way she did. “You have a sister?” he said. “How is that possible?”
Torres got up from the couch she was sitting on and turned to look out into space with the glow of the Earth reflecting on her face. She couldn’t believe this was happening herself, she didn’t quite know how it was possible. “All Kar’pec told me was that my mother had a child before she met my father. A daughter.”
“I take it she lived with her father, or was given up for adoption by your mother?” Chakotay asked.
“Kar’pec said she was taken away from my mother by the father, when they divorced and my mother got involved with a human.”
“Why?”
Torres knew the answer, she hated admitting it, but it was the only true answer for it. “I guess the Klingon father didn’t want his daughter to be dishonoured by Miral marrying a human.” Torres felt disgusted with herself and her heritage. How could they be so cruel and take a child away from her mother because of the person she married. Torres turned around to face Chakotay, the expression on her face showed how desperate she was to find this lost sister and get some answers on her dead mothers past.
“Okay, you can have the shuttle. I take it you will be going to the Klingon Homeworld.”
Torres expression changed, Chakotay noticed there was something else. Something Torres hadn’t told him yet. “What?” he asked.
“There’s something else you should know.”
Torres explained to Chakotay that this sister she never knew she had was a Klingon medic, during the Dominion War she saved the life of a dying Vorta who later escaped. This Vorta was responsible for the massacre of over a hundred Klingons. Her sister was held responsible and taken to the Klingon Penal Asteroid Rurapenthae.
“Absolutely not.” Chakotay shouted.
“B’Elanna I can’t let you take a shuttle on your own to that place. Even you must have heard of the terrible things that happen there.”
“I’m willing to take that risk.” Torres said.
Rurapenthae had a reputation through out the galaxy as the ‘Aliens Graveyard’ only two people in history have escaped it alive. Its freezing temperatures kill instantly if ever exposed to the cold.
“What if, I go to the Homeworld? Kar’pec has a Bird of Prey, maybe I can convince him to take me there and we can attempt a rescue.”
Chakotay still was reluctant to give Torres a shuttle, but he had no choice. If he didn’t give her a shuttle she wouldn’t forgive him. And her friendship meant so much to him. He turned to look into the young half Klingons eyes and gently nodded.
Torres smiled, grateful for his support she tightly clasped his shoulder and then left the room. “B’Elanna?” Chakotay said.
“Yes?”
“Shouldn’t you inform this situation to your counterpart?” he asked referring to her duplicate.
She paused for a moment to think, should she tell her about this situation. “No, the message was sent to me and I’m the one who’s going to deal with it.” Besides Torres thought, her duplicate wouldn’t think twice about not contacting her.
------------------------------
After a long journey, Torres’ shuttle arrived at the Klingon Border. “This Klingon Patrol Outpost Par’chack, identify yourself!” The message from the outpost echoed the shuttles comm. system. It was filled with distortion and static, probably because of the age of the outpost. “I am Lt B’Elanna Torres on the Federation Shuttle Cochrane, requesting permission to cross the border.”
“Stand by” The Klingon spat.
Torres huffed, obviously angry at the delay. “Understood” she said.
It had been a long journey, not long enough as far as Torres was concerned. It gave her plenty of time to think about her mother and why she never told her she had a sister. She couldn’t help but wonder if there was anything else she didn’t know about her past, what other secrets her mother kept from her. “Outpost Par’chak to Federation Shuttle, you are cleared to cross the border.”
“Acknowledged. Thank you!” Torres powered the thrusters back up and resumed her journey.
When she arrived on the Klingon Homeworld B’Elanna took her shuttle down to the City of Quinn’latt. The family home wasn’t far from there. She decided to wear a long hooded coat. A Starfleet Officer walking through the streets would attract unwanted attention for her. The weather was dull, windy and hot. She hadn’t been on the Homeworld for almost ten years and she didn’t depart on good company. When she arrived at the family home it brought up many mixed emotions. Her Klingon family lived in this home for over five generations. Her family didn’t have much land and wasn’t regarded with major influence within the Empire. Torres didn’t care. She never cared. One Klingon family is the same as another as far as she was concerned. Torres walked slowly up to the entrance of the family home and banged the metal door. The door was old, rustic and the banging echoed through the house. A few minutes later a large Klingon pulled the door open. Torres pulled the hooded jacket away from her, revealing her face. “So, the mongrel child has returned.” The Klingon said. “Welcome home B’Elanna Daughter of Miral.”
“Where is Kar’pec?” She asked directly.
“Your Uncle is in the main living area, he has been expecting you.”
Torres took off her jacket and handed it to the Klingon who opened the door, she could see he was one of Kar’pecs warriors but she treated him like he was the house butler. She was clearly letting him know he didn’t intimidate her. Angered, the Klingon took Torres to the main living area.
As she was walking down the corridors she was filled with emotion. Everything looked as it did when she was a child. Bat’leths hung on the walls, even the smell of the home reminded her of her mother. She entered the living area where her uncle, Kar’pec was sharpening a Mek’leth. “I knew you would come.” He said.
“Leave us!” he shouted, looking over to the warrior next to B’Elanna. Torres walked over to him, but from behind the seating area a targ jumped at her, growling and slobbering. “Would you get this thing off me!” she shouted.
“For reasons that escape me, the beast remembers you.” Kar’pec said.
“I’m surprised you haven’t eaten him yet. Before I left you said he was too fat for a warriors pet.”
“I decided not to eat him. After you left, the beast became quiet fond of me. I did however change its name. Toby is not the name of a warrior!”
Torres sat on the seating area in front of her uncle. The targ walked over and lay next to her. “So tell me, how the hell can I have a sister that my mother never told me about?”
Kar’pec laughed, “There is much your mother never told you about.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Torres shouted.
Kar’pec chose to ignore Torres’ question. He walked over to the large fireplace and picked up a data padd that was resting on the top of it. He turned to Torres and threw the padd at her. It fell to the ground and as it hit of the floor the impact activated it. As Torres leaned over to pick it up she saw the face of what she thought was her mother on the padd, but it wasn’t. Was this her sister, she was shocked at how much she looked like her mother, she even had flashbacks of her time in the Vidiian prison when she was split into a full klingon, the face reminded her of that time. The resemblance was shocking to her. “Are you saying this is my sister?” She said softly, still unnerved by the picture.
“You are not as foolish as you look.” Kar’pec said insulting her.
Torres was struggling to understand, why would her mother lie to her. She has had to cope with many challenges over the past few years, being duplicated and separated from her crew, the death of her mother. There was a time she felt like she had no family. Now she is finding it difficult to cope with the fact that she may have more family than she realised. Torres skimmed down the data padd that had all her sisters’ information.
It read –
NAME: L’NAN, DAUGHTER OF KOR’POK
FATHER: KOR’POK SON OF JUDMOOS
MOTHER: DECEASED, UNKOWN
CURRENT POSITION: KLINGON MEDICAL PROGRAM. – UPDATE –
IMPRISONED ON RURAPENTHAE, LIFE SENTENCE.
“We have to find her Kar’pec, we have to get her off Rurapenthae.” Torres said.
Kar’pec smiled at Torres, it wasn’t often he smiled at her. “Well, perhaps there is some Klingon in you after all.” He said. “My ship is in orbit, we will depart immediately.”
“Hold on, I need to ask you a few questions first.” Torres said. “What about her father. Why hasn’t he tried to rescue her?”
“He is dead. He was killed when his ship was destroyed in the invasion of Cardassia. She has no surviving relatives.”
“Except us.”
Torres grabbed her hooded jacket from the ‘butler’ and stood by the side Of her uncle. She didn’t know anything about this person or even if she was alive, but she was a key to her past and to her mother. She didn’t understand why, but that was a comfort to her.
-------------------
In orbit a twenty-year old Bird of Prey de-cloaked. The ship was battle damaged and scars and scorches were striking across the hull. Kar’pec and Torres beamed aboard. Torres was overcome by the awful smell on the ship, it reminded her of rotting flesh. It smelt very bad. “This way!” Kar’pec shouted, heading toward the bridge. “You expect us to survive a trip to Rurapenthae in this flying heap of junk.” Torres said looking at the damaged ships bulkheads. As an engineer she could spot the state of the ship with all its faults.
“This vessel is stained with the glory of battle. It may not meet the requirements of Starfleet Buch’a. But it is the best I can do!” Kar’pec snarled.
When they arrived on the bridge, Kar’pec immediately ordered a course to Rurapenthae. There were not many Klingons aboard. Many decks on the ship were uninhabitable due to gas and plasma leaks. Some of the crew have the burns to prove it.
---------------------
Two hours into the journey Kar’pec and Torres were in Kar’pecs chambers sharing a meal. While Kar’pec was enjoying every tentacle of his gagh, B’Elanna soon found she had lost her appetite. The creature on her plate reminded her of something she saw in the waters while on Barge of the Dead. “Does my cooking not meet your standards?” Kar’pec asked.
Twisting and repelling the advancing creature on her plate Torres had to hold her breath from the smell. “I prefer my meals not to move, thanks.” she replied.
“You disappoint me.” He paused. “I regret that we are family.”
Torres slid her plate across the table showing she was finished. “What’s that supposed to mean?” She asked.
Kar’pec finished chewing the leg of a saber bear, with blood and guts dripping down his beard. “It is no wonder our family is regarded with little honour. First your mother marries a human, and then produces a mongrel that detests our ways. It is no wonder your sister was taken away from us.”
Torres got angry. “Stop calling me a mongrel!” she shouted. “My name is B’Elanna!”
“Our family was once proud, had many allies in the Empire. Now it is a broken house, with very little allies and very little ships.” Kar’pec was disgusted with Torres, when he looked into her eyes he saw the reason for his own problems, he blamed her.
“And you’re blaming me for that?” Torres said.
“Yes I blame you!” he roared. “You and your mother. You have destroyed our family.”
Torres got up from her chair preparing to leave, “here we go again.” She said. “I was wondering how long it would take before you would start this.”
“Start what?” he shouted with the remains of his meal entangled in his beard.
“Blaming me for your pathetic life!” Torres snarled.
Kar’pec was furious. He picked up his plate with small pools of blood and tentacles floating in the corner and threw at B’Elanna, narrowly missing her. “Ratch’owl B’tak!” he cursed.
“Oh, I hit a nerve.” Torres said calmly, she understood whatever klingon curses he was yelling, but unlike the person she used to be. Her time on Voyager and Deep Space Nine taught her restraint.
- “BRIDGE TO KAR’PEC. WE ARE APPROACHING RURAPENTHAE”-
Kar’pec, breathing with anger and red with temper began to calm himself. “On my way.” They both walked out to the bridge. Kar’pec had to push the doors apart to get out of the chamber; Torres knew the mechanisms were offline from battle damage. “We are not finished with this!” Kar’pec said to her wiping the food remains from his beard.
“Drop the cloak and raise shields.” He ordered.
The Bird of Prey decloaked above ice-covered asteroid. There were many other Klingon ships in the area carrying prisoners beaming them down, not to mention other alien ships battle damaged.
– “THIS IS KLINGON PENAL COLONEY RURAPENTHAE. IDENTIFY YOURSELF” –
Kar’pec nodded to his communications officer, signalling him to open a channel. “This is Kar’pec on the Bird of Prey, Kartor. We have orders to transfer prisoners to you.”
-“STAND BY” –
Torres looked at Kar’pec, everyone was worried but him. This was a tense situation. One mistake could leave all of them prisoners on Rurapenthae. Chakotay was right, Torres thought to herself. This was an alien’s graveyard
-“YOU ARE CLEAR TO TRANSPORT YOUR PRISONERS. HAVE THEIR IDENTIFICATION CODES READY”-
“Understood. Kar’pec out!”
Torres walked over to Kar’pec she didn’t understand “Identification codes?” she said. “We don’t have any identification codes.”
“Not to worry, I will handle the situation.” Kar’pec was unusually confident with himself. Torres found this strange; a moment ago he was upset because the state of his life and his rickety barge ship couldn’t fight off against a Ferengi shuttle. “Well, that makes me feel a whole lot better.” She said.
Kar’pec ordered his second in command to take over while he and Torres headed to the transport platform. “Make sure you wrap up warm, I hear Rurapenthae is so cold that exposure to the open would kill almost instantly.” He joked.
“Thanks for your concern.”
They both walked into the transporter room; B’Elanna noticed that it was only she and Kar’pec that were there. “Where is everyone else?” she asked.
“What are you talking about?” Kar’pec said picking up a Disruptor Pistol.
“You can’t honestly think that only you and I could get L’nan out of there?”
Kar’pec laughed in an intimidating manner. “Your Federation friends have made you weak!” he shouted. “We will save your sister. The klingon way, you will pretend to be my prisoner. When we get the opportunity we will shoot the guards.”
Torres shook her head, but reluctantly got on the transport platform. She pulled out her phaser setting it to stun and hiding it under her jacket. “Chow’ech’oo!” Kar’pec cried, energising the transporter.
----------------------------
They beamed to the surface, which was covered in snow. The blizzards made anything two feet in front of them impossible to see. The temperature was below freeing and Torres could feel her hands going numb. Klingons can’t stand the cold. From the distance Kar’pec spotted three Klingon Guards wrapped up in animal fur to repel the freezing conditions. The first guard approached Kar’pec. “I was under the impression we would be receiving many prisoners?”
“You were mistaken, she was found on Tiger Core and exposed as a Federation Spy!” Kar’pec said pulling Torres forward.
The guards exchanged a glance at each other. Officially they are supposed to scan the visitors and there prisoners, but because of the freezing blizzards they ignored the rule. “Take them both underground.”
Two guards pulled Kar’pec and Torres to the entrance to Rurapenthae‘s Penal Colony. One of the guards pulled out a hand held computer device; he aimed it to the mounting heap of snow that lay in font of them. Upon pressing the button a massive set of doors opened up revealing the entrance to the underground mines. They entered the large doors closing the snowy, freezing weather from the outside. As they were taken down the stairs into the first level of the colony, they saw thousands of prisoners of all different species. Romulans, Cardassians and even Ferengi. All working and carrying mining equipment. “Take the prisoner to the barracks. I will take this one to Gowr’ak.”
Kar’pec walked closer to Torres and spoke very quietly. “Do what you can to find L’nan. Don’t worry about me!” he whispered as B’Elanna was dragged away to her barracks.
---------------------
“They don’t like Federation Spies here.” The Guard spat. “If I were you I would watch my back!”
Torres was left at the barracks along with many other prisoners. She was glad the guards didn’t scan her. Her phaser was still hidden. Many aliens were resting on the bunks. Torres immediately started to scan the room with her eyes, looking for L’nan. Seeing her only in a picture didn’t help matters, but she was sure if she spotted her she knew she would recognise her. She walked past many aliens, beaten from fights, starving from the lack of food and lying dead robbed of all their clothes and belongings. She walked up to a Romulan female, black and blue from a beating. “Excuse me.” She said. “Have you seen a Klingon female, her name is L’nan?”
“Stay away!” she screamed. “Stay away!” The Romulan clearly had psychiatric problems and Torres slowly backed away from her, telling her it was okay. She turned and walked deeper into the barracks. Screams from behind could be heard from fights, the shrieking of the mining equipment made Torres head throb with pain.
Noticing a woman with her back to her crouched down treating an injured ferengi, Torres slowly walked up to her. Could this be her sister, the sister she never knew. What would she say to her, did she even know she existed; part of Torres was very afraid but alittle excited too. She could think of no words to say to her that would explain who she was, her time ran out. She was standing behind the stranger. “L’nan?” she said.
The woman slowly turned around. It was a klingon female and she looked a lot like Miral. “What ever it is you want, I do not have it and do not want to trade for it,” she said.
“I don’t want anything from you. I… I’m.”
“I have now time for your games B’tak, how do you know my name?” She screamed. Part of the woman was curious, obviously she knew she was a klingon, half klingon at least her ridges were less pronounced.
“My name is B’Elanna.” Torres said with the slight hope she would know something. But she didn’t even blink; it was obvious she never heard of her. “B’Elanna, Daughter of Miral.” she confirmed.
That got her attention. L’nan’s face was puzzled. She knelt back down to give the wounded Ferengi a bandage then marched away from Torres. Not the reaction B’Elanna expected.
“What is it that you want from me?” L’nan said.
“You’re my sister.”
“I am not your sister. I am L’nan Daughter of Kor’Pok.” L’nan knew who Miral was, but she was surprised to see Torres here on Rurapenthae. “What are you doing on this frozen wasteland B’tak?” she asked.
“I’ve come to rescue you.”
“Rescue me. I do not even know who you are. You claim to be the daughter of Miral, I suppose you are the mongrel who almost destroyed my fathers honour.”
“I’m no mongrel and I’m not responsible for anything to do with your father. I have come here with Kar’pec, my mother’s brother. He has a Bird of Prey in orbit. We’re going to…”
“Kar’pec!” L’nan shouted. She reached out at grabbed B’Elanna’s arm and dragged her into a nearby barrack. “You have to listen to me. I don’t now who you are and I don’t care, but this uncle of yours is not the person you think he is.”
Pulling away from L’nan’s grip Torres frowned, she was upset to hear that she didn’t care, but she wasn’t surprised. “What are you talking about, Kar’pec and I have come here to get you out of here.”
“Kar’pec is a traitor to the Empire, he killed my father and he is the reason I am here.”
“What!” Torres shouted. “Your father was killed in a battle during the Dominion War. In the invasion of Cardassia.”
“If only he was, that would have been an honourable death. But that is a lie. My father was killed when Kar’pec planted a bomb in the family home. All of my relatives are dead.”
Torres couldn’t understand what L’nan was saying it couldn’t possibly be true. “It was Kar’pec that told me you were here. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be here.” Behind them three guards were approaching. “We can’t talk now the guards are coming. Come on lets go!”
“Listen to me. Kar’pec has betrayed you!”
“What are you talking about?”
L’nan took a deep breath. “He is part of a faction, the Par’chack. They are a massive group of Klingons led by the brother of Gowron. They plan on assassinating Chancellor Martock.”
Torres was shocked. “We can discuss this later we have to get out of here!”
Torres and L’nan headed to the entrance of the first level. The main compound had been cleared of all its prisoners and it was in darkness. “The guards must have cleared the all the prisoners.” Torres said pulling out her phaser.
“Leaving so soon.” A voice from up in the darkness echoed. “You just got here”. The lights of the compound lit up full beam. Above L’nan and Torres on a platform stood Kar’pec, an unknown alien soldier and Kow’barr brother of Gowron.
Torres stood in shock aiming her phaser at them. “Kar’pec what the hell is going on?” she shouted.
“Hasn’t your ‘sister’ told you?”
L’nan looked at Kar’pec, her uncle with hatred. She knew what he had done and what he is planning to do. “You are witnessing the new power that will re-shape the Empire and the Alpha Quadrant.” Kar’pec said.
“What?”
“The Alliance between the Par’chak and the Remans.”
From the shadows an unknown soldier walked forward. He didn’t come to far into the light; his armour was reflecting all kinds of dark purples and blues like the shell on a beetle he was identifying himself as a Reman, an unknown race in the Alpha Quadrant.
“You are a traitor to the Empire Kar’pec!” L’nan shouted. “You have sold your family to the Par’chak.”
“Family.” Kar’pec growled spitting at the ground. “Our family is meaningless. We have no power and influence in the Empire and it is all because of that mongrel child. By allying our family with the Par’chak, we have a chance to restore our family name, make it a power within the Empire.”
“By killing Martock?” Torres said.
“Martock is a fool. He has no noble blood in his family.” Kow’barr the brother of the former leader of the Empire, Gowron walked forward. “He will die!”
“Who are these Remans?” Torres shouted.
“A powerful force. Led by a great warrior. The Remans and the Par’chak share a common goal. The destruction of the Federation and Romulus. The Par’chak have promised loyalty to the Remans in exchange for their help in restoring the Empire.” Kar’pec said.
“My brother was killed a meaningless death at the hands of the Federation his death was the first, the first of many to come. Gowron died a warrior and now I will see to it that our family will once again lead the Empire with the help of the Remans.” Kow’barr smiled, in total control.
Torres and L’nan exchanged a worried glance. Kar’pecs forces joining the Par’chak could dramatically alter the Klingon Empire and their alliance with the unknown force of the Remans could start a war that the Alpha Quadrant is not prepared for. Kar’pec offered his relatives an ultimatum. “Regardless of what our pasts may be, I promised your mother that I would bring you both together and we would become a family, with a proper house. I am giving you this chance to join with us or die along with our enemies.”
THE END

Thanks for all your replies, I am still finishing off the final parts to the second part of the story. You will be able to read the entire arc based storyline based around what began in 'Sins of the Mother' over on Voyager Alpha Quadrant, the new site is still under construction and should be up soon.
