No longer can I see the face of war,
No longer am I forced to witness my comrades' ruthless obliteration.
Instead I lie here, without a face,
Without a reason to live anymore.
I once had eyes that could see the world,
Once had ears that could hear music, hear children laughing.
But with the blinding flash of fate, I see it all disappear;
I am now entrapted within myself, my thoughts keeping me company.
I can't see them, but I know they are there, watching over me;
Gentle caretakers dressed in white, observing me like some kind of caged animal.
They cannot know what I want, what I desire more than anything;
If only they could hear me.
Death is no longer a taboo to me,
No longer do I fear the glistening of the reaper's scythe.
I long for it with all my being,
Assuring myself that night will soon be upon me.
How can I live without a real life?
How can I die if no one can hear me?
There must be a way, must be a way to tell them
The one thing I want so badly.
Please God, lay me to rest so gently now,
Give me a reason to be joyous once more.
Take me away from this hell I endure,
For I fear I can no longer withstand this agony.
Severed from the world I once knew,
Unable to speak the words I long to hear myself utter:
"Kill me. For the love of God, kill me now."
The absence of company is maddening.
And now the moon rises,
And twilight is upon me.
My suffering is ending, my hell disbanding,
My tattered soul verging towards my final moments.
Goodbye mother;
You carried me from conception to birth, and cared for me from birth to death.
Goodbye father;
You told me to fight, you taught me courage. I shall never forsake thy name.
Goodbye, great country,
For it is you for which I have died.
Goodbye sweet love,
My soul shall always be enriched by your memory.
Goodbye.
Thank you, God.

I don't know about the ending, it seems a bit rushed to me. Let me know what you all think.
