Entireley CGI I think, they might have a physical model for closeup shots, but most of it is entireley in the computer.

Yeah, it's all 100% very advanced cgi sfx. DS9 was also done in mostly cgi. TNG was done mostly with physical models. Voyager and the 3 latest movies were done with a combination of models and cgi (don't ask me how that works!). The advantage of cgi is that it is pretty easy to animate objects (like all the big fleet battles in ds9, that could never be done with models). The reason why later seasons of voyager, and the 3 last movies look so much better is because the model in the cgi makes the ship look like it has mass.

Lol, I like your avatar.

For Voyager they changed CGI companies half way through didn't they? And when the new company was brought in, Foundation Imaging, didn't they change the colour of Coyager's hull a little to show their work compared to the previous companys...In some episodes the hull is a dark blue where as in later ones its a grey-ish colour...

DS9 switched from models to CGI in the beginning of its sixth season. I think VOY switched at the same time.

Yes, Foundation did VOY's CGI work. They're the same company who did the first three seasons of Babylon 5, BTW.

ENT is 100% CGI. Unfortunately, the people in charge have failed to take advantage of the medium in any manner other than cost-cutting so far.

^ I think there was some CG work done on the season 5 finale "Call to Arms", Lindley. That Fed/Klingon fleet from the last shot looked like it was CG, so did the Dominion Fleet at DS9.

^It may have been. I'm told that "Call to Arms" was actually done with models, though.....

I noticed the colour change, but not the company change. I thought it was just me.

I noticed the colour change but it was only a couple of seasons later that I realised that they had changed CGI and that was not through me noticing; I read it in a magazine lol.

I bet that must have been difficult creating all those space battles just with models....
