If you want to know how most of the star trek technology works, read a brief history of time by stephen hawking! This book is great it tells you all about how stuff in star trek is really posible. It is all true as well. Stephen Hawking is one of the most brilliant men to ever live! he is a walking brain he can't talk or walk but he can definetly think! I recommand this book to every one.

Another note: I posted this hear because it has to do with star trek technology

1) Did you actually read the book? I read it yes, and it doesn't answer 1/50th, in Star Trek. More than anything else, it shows how very little in Star Trek could possibly be true.

2)It can get quite confusing. It happens. I was a bit confused in sections, especially in Imaginary time.

Yes i've read it and I think it does give us insight into how star trek works, not complete detail but base detail.

Stephen Hawkings is a good writer, that's true, but I don't think that he is the easiest to understand. I mean I understand it just fine but I don't think that beginners should jump straight into that one.

^ I agree, it does take quite a bit of comprehension to understand him, but I do think that he offers some interesting facts that can relate to Star Trek. In his latest book, "The Universe in a Nutshell" he had an entire chapter devoted to Star Trek and how realistic/unrealistic it is. I like his work a lot, but I haven't myself gotten down to reading the entire book of "A Breif History of Time"...workin' on it.
