If they should have shown how earth got attack by the brines.
They should have shown brines entering earth space and hundreds of federation vessels move in to defend earth.

Would have cost a lot. Besides, it was a sneek attack; there would have been more action on the way out than the way in.

Right on they said that earth didn't even know what hit them till it was too late that they couldn't even get the planet defense net online
