Thu May 08, 2003 6:27 pm why dident the borg assimulate earth? |

in the episode regeneration you saw the borg frozen in the ice, but we all know that, but they must have known that earth existed (an easy target to say the least) why dident they decide to send more borg to assimulate earth

They continued their original mission from the second half of First Contact... contact the Borg living in that time period. Remember the Interplexing Beacon?

They would probally have had a better chance of assimulating earth, Because they would have spread like a virus and it would have been very difficult to stop. They should have done both things, send the ship out and assimulate earth.

there were only 2 drones! even if they assimilated the science team it wouldnt be enoug, starfleet could have just sent a few undred security squads to kill wat was there.

Yeah, they could have carried out their original plans as well as assimulate earth. Think about it, They would activate like 10 more frozen drones, they still continue as they did on their arctic transport, and when the security detachment comes to investigate the research team they get more drones
The borg on earth would just multiply.

Wouldn't it have been better if the borg in the assimilated ship had not gone after Earth or any other planet at first? They should have taken their ship and tried to stay away from basically anything that could have put up a defense. They should have focused on assimilating smaller targets like small colonies to build up their numbers. They could have had a lot more drones and set up their own collective in the Alpha Quadrant (assuming that they weren't a part of the collective anymore). Then they could have moved to larger targets: first larger colonies, then starships and bases, and last moved on to the major planets. For a race focused on perfection and efficiency, I find their plan very flawed.

Not necessarily. These are borg from the future, technology way beyond anything the current timeline has seen. They could've taken the number of drones they had in their little assimilated ship, and really, conquered any planet not using nuclear technology. Hmmm, a thought.
Wow, that actually makes sense! More posted on the Star Trek Tech section.
Also, a sidenote: I dont believe that they're using starbases right now, and the only way to get a good amount of drones would be the Mars colony, which to my knowledge is small at that time period, but perfect to help gain an army.

No. Adaptive Shielding!!! They send a hundred security men, the borg get a hundred new drones. | As we saw in FC Worfs blade killed one, it would take an idiot not to try that one.
