You mean:
"Bridge to Sickbay" right, and then the computer 'knows' where to connecto to even before they say where in the ship they want to talk to, right?
I have no answer for that...only maybe that its a little mistake people ake..

I think the question is phrased something like this..."When a character in Star Trek uses their communicator for intership communicatios, they have to tap the badge and specify where the communication should be directed. For example, "Bridge to Sickbay". The character in sickbay hears the entire message after it has been routed to the sickbay including the "Bridge to" part. Why is it necessary to repeat the destination over the communications system?
The answer to this question is simple. "Bridge to Sickbay" as a message from the character tells the computer where to direct the message...that much is common sense. When the character in sickbay HEARS "Bridge to Sickbay", it tells the character where the message originated. Think about it, on a ship of over one hundred people and up to 1,000 or more there are probably a lot of people who sound the same. By giving the character's position, the number of people who may be contacting the character is significantly reduced.

This seems like the most logical explaination yet. And I actually tend to have the same notion as he does about the whole thing. So I suppose I'm in perfect agreement.
