Benjamin Laffayatte Sisko's Current Starfleet status is MIA (Missing in Action) he entered a fight with the Emissary of the Pah-Wraith's Long time adversary Gul Dukat in the Bajoran Fire Caves , Kai Winn before her death revealed that the Book of the Koss'Amojan was the key to the imprisonement of the Pah-Wraith and Sisko in a last attempt to defeat Dukat Tackled him and ran into the raging Fires of the Caves destroying not only Dukat, The Book but also his coporeal body. Sisko Awakened in the Celestial temple only to be told he was to remain with the Prophets, he did manage to say goodbye to Kassidy but unfortunately for his Son Jake they parted without last words. Sisko will return but when is the question "Maybe a year, maybe yesterday but I will be back" he told Kassidy.

IIRC,for the Prophets time does not exist in a "line" as for us......for them, the past, present and future exist all at once.........
like for us,we have our yesterday,today,and tomorrow,(linear)but for them....there is no sense of time...err i think..... ; )

They can visit any time period at any moment. Time has no meaning to them. It all exists at once.
