Oooh by the way..
I STILL left something out..
n"A"poleonic codes had NOTHING to do with the rights I have now..
Much different patriots died for my freedoms and especially my civil rights!
If you honestly think that having no Nepoleon would of turned my country into one without freedom. I will only be able to stare at you in awe with nothing but disagreement on my face..

Well, as for the rights, it was European rights. Yes, USA was established by then but many European nations were still under Monarchies that offered little or no rights.
As for the book you're quoting, there are always books that pull out the best and the worst of everything. If you read the article of John Ritter you'd believe any nation BUT Germany started WWI. If you read the article of Fritz Fischer you'd believe Germany was the main reason. Same thing could be said for any event in history.
While Britain and some of the Scandinavian may have been able to compremise with their monarchs (ala Magna Carta), Louis the XV just wouldn't do it. He gave minor things here and there then tucked his tail between his legs when the French people had had enough and sported the symbol of the Revolution on his chest (now the flag of France). They didn't buy it and killed him. The council of parties is where the original terms for "right wing" and "left wing" came from but that's besides the fact. Many different groups tried their luck as the governing force of France and everytime they let power get to their heads and so the Revolution continued. The Great Terror was mainly under the rule of Robespierre, nothing to do with Napoleon other than Napoleon was rising in the ranks of the military due to his ingenuity. Napoleon managed to get all of France to rally behind him and end the seemingly endless cycle of putting in a new leader then putting him to death several months later.

Napoleon was a pretty amazing person and a very effecting leader. You can't really argue against that. Too bad the Russians outsmarted him.

Great doesn't necessarily mean "mwuah mwuaha buddy buddy, what a great guy..." I used the word to mean "well-established and powerful"
