Back in 1988 many things were in that year. Madaonna, Micheal Jackson, Cheers, and Endless ReRuns of the A-Team. Well Nintendo wanted a game that was cute and simple for kids of all ages. Boy they got it right on target with this little homage to cutness named Bubble Bobble. In Bubble Bobble you will play as a dinosaur that can shoot bubbles from its mouth. This is a platformer in the simplest terms. The object is to use your ability to create bubbles and than use them on your enemies: I.E crabs, skeletons, bug, and robots. After you have encased your hapless foe in a bubble you will jump on it and kill it. This game was real addicting back in 1988 and I'm sure that not many people would disagree with me. This game was so good they also made a sequal I haven't played that one yet but I'm sure it's as good as this game is. If you liked this game than I'm sure you will like other platformers. This game isn't rated but who cares? if it was I'm sure it would have been rated E for everyone. It gets a 4 out of 5 because eventhough it was a great game the only problem I had with it is that it was very laged when I pushed a button. But that was all that was wrong with it. The best part is if you own the NES system you can get this Jewell for only $3.99 at your local Electronics Botique if they have it in.

Priced New: $29.99 (Check your local Wal-Mart for avaiblity No longer sold on website)
Notes: This game would have gotten a 1 out of 5 if I couldn't have used the Keyboard and mouse. The games controls are horrendous with just the PS2 Controller.

"Set your Phaser to Frag." That was the Tagline that this game made famous when it was released on the PC, Does the PS2 port carry over? well the best Tagline would be. "Set Phaser to Headach." Because thats what this game is a Major league Headach. What was so wrong with this game? how about everything the game was so diminshed in the converting it isn't funny. You use the PS2 controller for everything. Unless you have the PS2 Keyboard and Mouse its best you don't play this game. Anyway onto the game you are in the boots of Ensign Munro from the Hazard team aboard the USS Voyager. Your team will take the missions that are more dangerous than your standarad Away team. You will visit such areas as a Klingon ship, a Borg ship a Mirroed Federation Ship, and you will also be able to go around the USS voyager and explore different areas of the ship. You will be using weapons from the simple Phaser to the what I consider stuipid "Photon Burst" the problem I have with the Photon Burst is that it looks like it is so powerfull that if you used it, it should have killed you. There is a multi player mode on this game also as well the PC version but this games multi player is less than good, you have to make sure both people playing have a PS2 controller or it won't work. This game also lacks online play which made its PC version famous. This game is prove that you shouldn't port every game from a PC to the Consoles. it gets a T for violence. It gets a 2 out of 5 because even though the game stinks its alot better to play if you have the Keyboard and Mouse if I didn't have that I would have given this game a 1 out of 5. the bright side is if you want the game you can get it used for under a buck. You should only get this game if your a hard core Star Trek game player or fan.

One quick question, who here hasn't thought about going afew rounds with Rocky Balboa? I know I have I still have that theme song from the 4th Rocky movie stuck in my head. Well this game isn't that game. Instead you will take on the The Man, thats right you take on the one the only "Iron Man" Mike Tyson, your character is a Rocky Balboa look alike named Little Mac. You will start off fighting the bottem of the ladder. As you go though the game you will fight such boxers as: Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, Piston Honda, Don Flamenco, King Hippo. After fighting these brutes you will make your way to the man himself thats right, Mike Tyson. You also have a Coach named Doc Louis, this isn't no Micky from Rocky but he does give helpfull hints. If you have this game you can also use the Nintendo Power Gloves to play the game. which will make the game alot more fun. This game was unrated because it came out well before the Ratings board came into effect. It gets a 4 out of 5 because eventhough the game looks nice it really is short for it being a nintendo game. there is only 4 to 5 rounds per each championship which there is only 3 championship classes. But because it does have one of the first accountable instances of a actuall person that being mike tyson in it I have to give it points. But all around it is a fun game I suggest anyone who likes boxing try this game if you have a NES.

Great review, as per usual, Jeff.

Boxing games have really come on. I used to play one for the Amstrad around 1986-7. I can't remember the title but I know it was fun - for it's time.

If you ask me, Rocky is one of the best boxing games in recent years. It's got a good control system to it and it's one of the better movie licenses. EVERY boxer from every Rocky movie is in the game and you can either play as Rocky or have matches like Apollo Creed VS Clubber Lang. Hulk Hogan isn't in, though, for understandable reasons.

I haven't played anything like Fight Night so I can't comment on that.

If you wonder what it was like to be in the boots of a massed produced clone trooper than my friend do I have the game for you. Star Wars: Republic commando puts you in the shoes of our favorite bounty hunter clone Jango Fett. In this game you will be known as Clone 3-8 you will be the leader of a rag tag group of more freely thinking troopers known as delta squad your also known as a ARC or "Advanced Recon Clone" your the best of the best. You will be sent in to do the more dirty work of the republic such as fighting on Geonisis (SP) to the Wookie planet and everything between. This game will have the feeling of many games such as Halo 2, and Metroid prime why you ask? because for one this game has the in helmet view like in Metroid prime but its nicely done. Also you will work in a team like in Halo your partners will even talk to each other. Like your little plucky friends from Halo. Your main weapon will change into 3 different types a machine gun type a grenade launcher type and a sniper gun type. But you will also pick up different guns through the game like sub guns, shot guns and mini guns. all more futureistic of course. This game is one of the best 1st person shooters I've seen since Halo 2 and Metroid prime. This game is so perfect I see it getting a 5 out of 5 because it really didn't have any problems that I could see. It gets a T for violence. But than again who wouldn't expect a game with shooting to have violence? This game is very good for its genere so I suggest if your a fan of Star Wars that you go get this game ASAP. And if you have it why aren't you playing it right now?

This game is the fourth and final games that Nintendo made when they aqquired the contract with Capcom to make the RE games, in Resident Evil 4 you will play Leon S. Kennedy who many remember from Resident Evil 2 fame. In this game Umbrella has been deystroyed (SP). But there is a New evil in the brew the presidents Daughter gets kidnaped and her last position is in western Europe. (I think I keep mixing it up if its Western or Eastern anyway.) Your job is to go find her and save her. When you get to the area you can tell that this village is different from other villages. When you ask one of them about the girl it gets violent the villager you ask attacks you when you shoot him he doesn't fall like a normal human. Than you find more of the villagers you can tell something is wrong here. These are not your normal people. I won't say what they are but what I will say is that there is a form of a cult there. You will also have to upgrade your weapons if you wish to advance. This game has a mixture of action adventure and RPG elements in my mind. It gets a 5 out of 5 because. With the exception of the masterfull remake of the first RE game this was about a great a making of a RE game I have ever seen. It gets a M for the violence and gore.

If you ever wondered what it would be like to tromp through a town in a rag tag group of suvivors from a zombie infestitation than my friend do I have the game for you. Resident Evil Outbreak puts you in the shoes of 1 of 8 suvivors each suvivor range from a Police officer to a News reporter. And each have a gift lets say the plumber he may look like a plumber right? but his gift is that he can create weapons out of other tools and do-dads. The News reporter can pick almost any lock with her set of lockpics. This is broken into levels. Each level has a group of objectives, like the first level "J's Bar" your objective is to make it through the building the bar is in and to saftey. Easy right? dead wrong you have alot of objects in your way which your going to have to get around. I love this game because it is the first of its kind it is so realisitic for it being a RE game it isn't really bound by that annoying camara angel. even though it does still have some bad spots but they have really tried to fix it. It gets a 5 out of 5 because of the ground breaking it did. I also love the whole playing as a suvivor idea it really puts a whole new angel on the game. It gets a M because of Violence, blood and gore. I really suggest if you like Resident Evil games you aqquire this game. You won't be dissapointed.

Last year Resident Evil Outbreak came out and boy was I blown away, here was this game that had you in the shoes of a avarage Joe, and your job was to get through the city alive. Granted that game had the camara angels but it was nice for all the faults it had. Well this year they released the sequal to that game. Resident Evil Outbreak: File 2 in this sequal you will play as those same Joes from the first outbreak. I was thinking when I heard they were going to make this game "Cool a new outbreak what new things will they add?" well in so many terms they didn't add much. And that is sad because they made such a great game last year but this game just seems old and dated since they just released the masterfull RE 4 just 4 months ago. The only things that this game has new from the first is the ability to shoot while you move, and that you can convert data from Outbreak 1 to outbreak 2. This game gets a 2 out of 5 because eventhough they are selling it for only $29.99 at certin stores it should have been no more than $19.99. It gets a M for violence and gore. This game is best as a rentle unless your a die hard fan of Resident evil.

I did some reasearch and this game came out roughly 25 years since the original if I remember right, This game is for those of you who wonder what it would be like to be the Itallian Stallion. In this game you play as Rocky who goes from the rungs of despair and work your way up to the big time matches. This game has many modes including: Exibition, Tournement, Movie and Sparing. The meat of the game is the Movie mode this is where the storyline is located. Once you get Movie mode completed Tournment mode will open up where you have the ability to play in a tournment up to 16 people. The storyline if I remember right is broken into 5 segments representing each movie you will face afew no name fighters and one big time figher for example the first segment will be Apolo cree, and so forth. The controlls feel good I didn't detect any real lag at all. The only problem I had with the game was to me it felt like sometimes the fighters had a ruberband mentality (SP) than again it may just be me. Even though the game is nice it doesn't compare graphically to some of the other boxing games of the time that this came out. This game is good for any fan of the movies but if your a boxing fan I suggest you get a more accurate simmulator. This game gets a 3 out of 5 because even though it isn't the prettiest it does its job good enough. It gets a T for violence.

It's been alittle over 2 years since the release of Rocky for X-Box and PS2. Now we have the sequal to that game Rocky: Legends. This gamei s kind of like the first but its storyline is more indepth and the voice acting is better eventhough its not the original actors at all. You will play once again in the shoes of Rocky as he makes his way up the lader of the boxing world. I'm going to keep this review short because even though they did better it still didn't really add anything new besides the graphics and so forth. The controls feel better and this time no rubber band effect. Which is nice because I prefer a fair fight. This game is more acrade than a simulator. It gets a T for violence and a 4 out of 5 because they fixed what was wrong with the first Rocky game. I suggest if you like the movies you get this game.

Back in 1992 what SNES port from a Arcade game was everyone playing? If you say Street fighter 2 than I say your a smart person. Street fighter 2 was what alot of people said to be the birth of the 2D fighters in this game you will play as one of the 8 world warriors. Such names as Ken, Ryu, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dasleem and so forth. This game had it all back in the day. This game is said to be what led to the creation of Mortal Kombat and so forth the ratings board. I couldn't find any problems with this game because it was so fluid and great. It was also a game that was very addicting. Many people would play this game in the arcade. And if you don't know why than you need your eyes examined. It gets a 5 out of 5 because it was perfect and nothing was wrong with it. It's not rated because it came out before the ratings board took effect. If you have a SNES I highly suggest you get this game.

I just wanted to say thanks to Jeff for reviewing the Rocky games. I think you've got a good grasp of gaming and you've helped me make my mind up whether to purchase Rocky: Legends.

So, thank you, Jeff.

Games today are mainly made by big companies. If your looking for one of those games that someone made in their bedroom and sold the rights to a comp. Than my friend do I have the game for you. Alien Hominid started out as a simple web based game but after it gained so much fame over a short period they decided to make this game avaible for the console for those of you who don't have the game. In Alien Hominid you play a alien who mainly kills people this game is a throw back to the old days of Contra and Metal Slug and several other shooters from the 2D period. This game will have you attacking people with different versions of weapons. If you feel like avoiding someone you will just have to dig into the ground and wait till they pass. This is also a platformer in the most simple terms. The only problem you may have is if your looking for this game is that it is so rare that you may have to go online to buy it. I was lucky that my cousin had this game and he let me use it till I completed it. This game proves that you are still able to make a great 2D scroller for the consoles of today. It gets a T for Blood and Gore and Some Animated violence. I found the controls of this game very good. This is one of the most perfect ports from a comp game that I have ever seen. It gets a 4 out of 5 because I couldn't find many problems the only issue I had with it was it had little in the way of replay value. Other than that I suggest if you see this game you get it. I promise you that you won't be disapointed.

If your were wondering. "Gee I wonder what the 50's movie scenes were like." Boy oh boy do I have what your poor sweaty game playing hands have been craving for years. In Destroy all Humans you play as Crypto a Martian that was sent to earth to harvest DNA from humans because they don't have the ability to reproduce and their cloning measures are going down hill so they need the DNA from humans because it was revealed that we are Ancestors of our Martian Brotheren. You can tell the style of this game was done in the 50's B movie style, you will be able to go around towns and kill humans or control your UFO and oberliterate entire citys. If your wondering. "Well all you do is go around, drive and kill people why couldn't I get GTA: San Andreas?" And my reply to that is if you want go ahead but this game is more than just killing it has some fun missions and you won't be able to use our favorite martian to his full extent if you just kill people. Infact you can use the Anal Probe on the local Beauty Queen. Heh, Heh. Ahem anyway this game gets a T for Suggestive Themes, Mild Language, Violence. It gets a 4 out of 5 because eventhough its fun it just seems to be beatable way to quick. But besides that if you like old B Movies you will love this game.

Straight from the files of "Weird games" comes Katamari Damacy in this game you will play as. The son of the King of all the Cosmos who seems to have made all the stars fall out of the sky. Your mission as the son is to collect all the objects possible in your small gravity ball. After it gets so big it will go back up into the sky and a new star will be born. You will collect everything possible everything from Mah-Jang peices to Humans. Thats right you collect humans and send them to their death just so you can create a star lol. This is one surreal game which makes you wonder what the makers were smoking when they made this game. I think maybe some Marry J lol. This game also has a two player battle mode which is nice. I hard that there is a sequal comming out I hope it will be as good as this game is. It gets a T for Mild Fantasy/Violence. It gets a 4 out of 5 because sometimes the control seems to be alittle sluggish other than that its a great game. This game is also rare like Alien Hominid so if you see this game I highly suggest you get it. Trust me you'll be wondering what they were smoking when you play it also.

Rounding our our 4 weird games comes Under the Skin. This is one weird game from our friends in Japan the same people responsible for Katarimari Damacy. In under the Skin you will play as a alien entering the right of adulthood and to prove that he must go to earth to cause maham his name is. Cosmi simular to Cosmo Kramer from Seinfield. You will do everything possible to cause mayham this game is alittle stealth because you have to addapt their form to yours but once you are found out you have to get a new form so basically you will be switching bodies more than Micheal Jackson.... *Don't sue me * You will go through many levels from a mall to a neighborhood to Racoon City from the Resident Evil series. You will also meet Nemesis and the very sexy Jill Valentine. This game has alot of Cel Shaded graphics which is a nice change if you like that kind of stuff. This game is also as rare as the last 3 that have been reviewed. so if you see it. I suggest you get it. It gets a T for Comic Mischief and Violence it gets a 4 out of 5 because even though it is wide open it feels real closed in to me. But other than that I think its a awesome game. If you see these 4 games I beg you to get them.

Who here played Arcade games? well back in the 90's if you played arcade games than you were probably lulled into the world of Area 51, well guess what It's back. thats right in Area 51 you will play as Ethan Cole a specialized Hazmat operative sent to Area 51 to clean the area up. when you get there you find out something bad has happened. Soliders have mutated with a alien virus they want to infect anyone and everyone possible. You will also encounter other aliens as you progress into the game. This game came out the same time that Doom 3 came out eventhough Doom 3 is nice I prefer this game just because of its content. The voice of Ethan Cole is David Duchavany from X-Files this is his second game the first one being Thirteen. The lead Alien is Maralyn Manson. This game Has a real scary feeling as you get in further into it. You actually have a squad of people to help you unlike Doom 3. This game is what happens when you take your time and don't rush making a game. I consider this game not only a Doom 3 Killer but also a Halo 2 Toppler. It also has a pretty good multi player mode. I suggest if you like FPS's you get this game. It gets a 5 out of 5 because its perfect in all ways for its genera. It gets a M for Intense Violence/Blood/Strong Language. So if those things don't bother you I suggest you get this game. You won't Be dissapointed.
