Kunal wrote: | Everything is relative, so within the spaceship, whether at warp 1, warp 9.9 or 1/4 impulse, everything seems to be like normal. The analogy cited abt the cat at 70 kmph is apt enough. And of course the speeg of light is constant c = 299,792,458 m/s
speed = warp factor cubed
therefore warp 1 =c
warp 2 = 8c
etc. |
I mentioned the exact same thing 10 posts ago Kunal!! read up!

Okay, I don't know what in the world I'm walking in to since I didn't read the rest of these posts, but I have no idea how fast warp is.

i see, are you referring to TOS scale, not TNG.
well with TNG scale, warp 9.9999 is 199,516 times the speed of light.

sooo, they get around a lot faster than some people think. I guess this means that they don't have to wait through drive throuhg lines... ha ha... ha, ok not funny. Alrighty then... um, how about 9.9999999999999999 continuing?

Not 186,000km/s, 186,000 miles/s.
9.9999999999999999 would probably be faster than some transwarp speeds...
It's just not practical.

thats right, it also states that a journey to andromeda would take 10 years, if we could make a ship to go warp 9.9999.
200,000 x 10 = 2 million light years - that is the distance between andromeda and the milky way. andromeda is a real galaxy as well.

^ wahtchya talking bout mister? (directed to ensignparis)
ok, the speed of light as i said before is 299,792,458 m/s or 300million m/s
m/s --> metres/secoond

so what acoording to you is the fastest warp speed?

well i think it can be anything, but it's hard to say. at warp 11, just past the warp 10 barrier, it's 32,561xc. but it is still possible to go faster than that not passing the barrier. so warp 9.9999 is faster than warp 11. warp 9.9999 actually is around warp 16.7-16.8 past the warp 10 barrier.(but you would be using more energy going warp 9.9999)

well yeah, but you got transwarp speeds which are warp 11+. well the warp 11+ is not official, but its better than calculating in relative times the speed of light xc.

I thought Warp 10 was an infinitely fast speed
