I am not talking about negotiations. I am talking about those crappy speeches Picard made on virtually every episode. About the greatness of humanity, and it's ability to grow, and adapt, and how great the Prime Directive was, and so on and so on. Say it, and mean it, and they will remember it. You shouldn't have to repeat yourself over and over again.

Amen to that!
Picard's speeches about the greatness of humanity, the Federation and the Prime Directive really turned me off!

u compare TNG with voyager, and u see the difference in special effects, but if it wasnt for TNG, there would be no DS9 or voyager. TNG started just like the original series of startrek. same music and style, but by season 2 of TNG the whole format had changed. they had more cash and better stories (more focus on technology). but if TNG had not been brought back and survived, then my life and our hope for the futre would not be the same. No hope for all that wicked cool technology to one day exist as our imagintions would not have been fired by startrek.

TNG and Voyager were fundamentally different. For instance, think of the TNG episode "Silicon Avatar". (If you've seen it).
TNG Version: Entity destroys planet. Away team survives. Picard hunts down the entity and tries to communicate, but vengeful guest star destroys it.
VOY Version: Entity destroys planet. Away team survives. Janeway hunts down the entity and destroys it.
I don't mean to insult Janeway, but can you actually see her doing what Picard tried to do in that episode?

You are insulting Janeway. Like Picard, she would have attempted to communicate with the entity. But, if he failed to listen, then she would have blown him up.

Well, it wasn't intended as an insult. I meant it as a character obsevation.

Hmm...odd Janeway destroyed it. She always seemed to be preaching on how benevolent humans should be.
I like TNG because of the women positions--only show to have a Counselor (and a Betazoid at that, to my knowledge, even if she was only 1/2 Betazoid), and I'm a fan of any strong woman character like Crusher Tasha Yar was also awesome...whatever happened to her?

I agree...It also sets the stage for other Star Trek's such as introducing the Borg and Ferengi to use later in other series...

I have warmed up to it a bit, I think. I used to hate it, but it's a pretty nice show.
