When people are at work, people are stimulating the economy. If you start making holidays left and right, it will hurt the economy. |
My point exactly.

Don't dance around the subject. You took the day off from school, but are opposed to others having the same opportunity.
Why?

Dance around the subject? I was not dancing around the subject, but that's my reason why there shouldn't be a holiday.
Alright, I'll answer it. I think that if someone has THAT MUCH of an interest in participating in the last minute campaigning, voting, or what not, they can take the day off.
However, I don't think there should be a HOLIDAY. I hope that answers the question.

So what did you do on your day off, then? I want details.

I campaigned last-minute. I went to houses handing out last-minute GOP materials door to door, called people to get out the vote, and took records of those that got out to vote.

That's good work you did, which I assume you didn't get paid for, which makes it even better.
I do not believe the economic apathy claim. If a day off work will allow easier access to a voting booth, it is worth the loss of one day's productivity. You do realise that people skive throughout the year anyway, don't you?

I don't see how giving a people one day off every four years will have any major effect or impact on the economy.
