Not true! It still takes time for the borg to get somewhere, even in transwarp. And YOU CAN'T GO FASTER THAN INFINATE SPEED!

Okay, remember when Paris managed somehow to get a shuttle to go up to warp ten? He still took awhile to get to where he was going (once he was mutated and went to a planet) So obviously warp ten cant be infinite velocity, but it's still pretty fast. Also, and I realize this is probably a bad example to use, but in TNG's "all good things", when riker saves the day in the upgraded Enterprise, he later instructs the helmsman to go to warp thirteen. 13 is higher then ten, so it must be possible to get higher than warp ten. And if ten was infinite velocity, what would be the point of going higher? (warp thirteen)

According to that, warp 30 and 40 are both infinite speed, while all the speeds in between are not.......why not settle at a comfortable 30 then? why go higher?
BTW....ty for infusing some intelligence into this discussion.

As I have said on many different threads, the warp scale has changed over time. Warp 9 now is faster than the old-scale warp nine. I could, but I'm not going to write out a full description as I am busy.

the infinitive speed is explained there as well. it is something one cannot control, when breaking through the barrier the ship will always be back at approx the same location. (give or take the distance travelled in that period or time)

Transwarp has the same purpose as warp. To make a ship go really fast. Transwarp just goes even faster than regular warp drive. Think of it as a mere step below warp 10 (infinate velocity). Basically: Really, really, really fast. In fact, the Borg can get across the galaxy in minutes using transwarp. It would take regular warp drive about 300 years to do that.

Think of it this way:

If a ship were to travel at warp 9.99999999999999999999 that would have to be faster than warp 11.

See my point?

Yes, but no matter how many nine's you put behind the decimal point, (9.9999999999...............) You are STILL below ten. The warp curve can only go so far. You can get really close to warp ten, infinite velicity, but you can never touch it. Transwarp allows you to go beyond infinite velocity.

Transwarp is not above infinite velocity.

Warp 9.99999999999999999999999999 is hundreds of times faster than Warp 9.9. BECAUSE the warp curve never touches 10, it goes up forever, meaning velocity, being on the Y axis(warp number on the X axis), will go up forever, so, in theory, Warp 11 is just labeling something between warp 9 and warp 10.

And that thing about Paris going at Warp 10, most people just like to believe that that episode never happened. And that pause you were talking about is just because they needed to do that for the show, not because that was what would actually happen.

If transwarp could make ships travel so much more faster, then why didn't Voyager create a transwarp system?

Same reason the federation didn't. They couldn't figure out how. Even if they did, you need transwarp hubs to make a transwarp network, and that's something thats a bitc* to build. It's as big as a planet.

Blimey, this just gets better! Faster than infinite speed! Hmm, quite. If something travelled at infinite speed, it would be everywhere at once and, being totally theoretical here, would cause the universe to implode (because basically you'd be uniting every single particle). No infinite velocity is simply not possible. Getting from point a to point b (even if its at opposite ends of the universe) in a eeny weeny little bit is, but not in no time at all!

When matter and anti-matter collide, you dont get plasma!
